Final Assessment (i.e., How will you know students can know/do the above?)
11
Students will prove understanding and application of objectives by selecting any GRI-listed organization and creating a fully-developed "innovation case."
This case begins with a critical evaluation of the current state of sustainability in the organization and two competitors to understand the contexts within which the organizations operate. From here, students will create a research plan to gather insights they deem necessary to scope the opportunity and further understand customers' current needs and frames, as well as gathering any publically-available data or competitive insights to bolster their case. Through innovation mapping, students will show the available whitespace and grayspace in the organization's offering which they seek to fill, as well as displaying structurally unmet needs in the competitor organizations the idea will fill. Students will also propose a beta test structure for the idea and what they seek to monitor in the beta. Finally, students will create a one-page summary for the product/service which would be intended to appear in the company's corporate sustainability report and would capture core program highlights and how it fits into the company's approach to sustainability.
