Students may progress more quickly through their foreign language sequence by taking a placement exam and/or summer courses. Second language must be in

one of the following: Arabic, Chinese, Filipino, Hindi, Ilokano, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer (Cambodian), Korean, Pali, Sanskrit, Thai, or Vietnamese.

Students must have a total of 15 credits in ASAN classes, which include ASAN 201 and 202 plus ASAN 310 and 312.

Asian Studies electives do not have to be ASAN courses, but they must be at the 300 and 400 level.

Students must incorporate all focus requirements into this plan. Focus designations (i.e., W, E, O, H) are CRN specific & semester specific.

A capstone project is encouraged, but not required.

Minimum 45 upper division (300+ course) credits are required.

*ASAN majors cannot take the JPN 111 series, which is oral communication.
