Welcome to the Q&A Center, a training tool for The Family History Guide. It has a series of spreadsheets with helpful questions and answers about family history, and it can be used for training or self-paced learning. You can also download this spreadsheet and modify it for your needs. See the Customize tab for details.

In the green tabs in this spreadsheet,

* The Question column has a question, similar to what guests in a family history center or library might ask.
* The Topic column lists the basic topic for the question.
* The Answer column has a link to where to find the answer in The Family History Guide.
* The Notes column is where you can type notes about the question or answer, or other helpful information.

Each sheet focuses on a different aspect of family history and a different area of The Family History Guide.
Tab colors: Blue = Info; Green = Beginning; Yellow = Int./Advanced

Training Others

As you review the questions in the spreadsheet, you can use the following variations for training others, such as consultants or staff, going from easier to harder:
a) Tell the learners the Choice where the answer is found, so they can look it up;
b) Let the learners find it in TFHG via search or menus;
c) Don't open TFHG; just open FamilySearch or Ancestry;
d) Don't open any of the above websites.
You can ask questions by topic (easier) or skip around various topics (harder).

Self-paced Learning

The items in the Q&A Center can help you review what you have been learning in The Family History Guide, and they can help you identify areas where you can expand your knowledge. Remember to use the Online Tracker to mark your learning progress in The Family History Guide.
