PLEASE READ FIRST: Artists are required to submit a budget. Please use this form to prepare and submit with your application.

1. Feel free to add line items as needed for your project. We have listed some typical project expenses but you can be more specific when you fill it out yourself.

2. When filling out the revenues section be sure to include whatever you are asking from Nocturne as well as any additional funding you have been awarded or are seeking out. The very least Nocturne will give to any project is artist fee.

3. When complete, your EXPENSES should BALANCE with your REVENUES. Once balanced the balance box will turn GREEN and you are ready to submit. If it is RED then your budget is incomplete.

 ELIGIBLE COSTS

 Artist Fees Every artist participated in the creation and presentation of your project may receive an artist fee based on the 2024 CARFAC Fee Schdule. Please see Category 1 amounts for:
A.1.5.3 Performance in a festival, conference, or event not part of an exhibition
A.1.6 • Exhibitions in Other Public Places

An Artist Fees for Electronic newsletters, press releases, and blogs has been inclded in the budget.

Use the budget template notes to provide details many artists are part of your project and CARFAC Fees.

 Project Costs Project costs include materials associated with the project, rental needs, venue costs, travel (if necessary), other necessary costs associated with the project.

Applicants should add to the budget template to inform us about each of the project costs associated with the project

Examples of eligible costs in this category include: materials, mentors /instructors / consultants, production expenses, travel costs directly related to the project and outside of the applicant’s general area of residence (also encourage artists to apply to Canada Council's Travel funding), venue costs, equipment rentals.

 Personnel Costs Personnel costs refer to any additional people needs to make your project successful.

Eligible costs in this category include: professional fees, mentors, actors/dancers/performers not associated with the actual creation of your work or it could be security costs, project attendants, assistants etc.

 Access & Support Applicants are invited to include accessibilty costs up to $250 per project.

Applicants are also invited to inlcude artist care/support needs that would make participating in Nocturne more accessible to you up to $250 per project.

Use the budget template to inform us of what those costs are and be sure to refer to them in your rationale

Examples of eligible costs in this category include: sign language interpretation, personal care attendant or support worker, a transcriber or specialized editor, personal project coordinator or assistant, a guide or visual describer, converting material into accessible formats, rental of specialized equipment needed for personal access or support, additional signage to make public engagement more accessible/inclusive.

 Artist Care This refers to items or funds that would help YOU the artist and your access to participating in Nocturne. Things like child care, assistance etc are often barriers for artists to participate in our programs but there may be other things that would be supportive to you as an artist. You can apply for up to $250 to support these costs. Please provide a rationale for these expenses in your application.

 Other Expenses Any other expenses necessary to make your project successful. Ineligble expenses include capital costs that would outlive this project like computer purchases.
