https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/69961767Family Phocidae (Earless Seals)2021The first and only seal observation in/taken from Philadelphia. There is another observation (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/69966188) but it is of the same individual. They were taken on the same day, less than an hour apart. The original poster even confirms it, so it is the only seal individual spotted from Philadelphia and uploaded to iNaturalist. Unfortunately, the pictures are not good enough to identify the exact species. It was thought to be a Harbor Seal (Phoca vitulina) but after taking a look at other seals, it was determined it could not be ID'ed further.

Iguana iguana (Green Iguana)2021The only records of Green Iguanas in Philadelphia on iNaturalist. This is really curious since this species does not occur naturally anywhere near Philadelphia. These either have to be the observer's pet, , or an escaped pet with an unidentified owner. If it were the first, it should've been marked captive.

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/26941196Ursanus americanus (American Black Bear)2019Again, the only recorded instance of any kind of bear in Philadelphia uploaded to iNat. I could find one more instance of a bear paying Philly a visit back in 2016 (https://www.phillyvoice.com/theres-black-bear-walking-around-fairmount-park). Although I am sure that there have to have been other times where a black bear has roamed around Philly in the last 100 years. An article talking about the one posted on iNaturalist is https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/bear-philadelphia-andorra-sighting-spotted/172162. This specific individual (2019) was shot by two tranquilizer darts and transported by animal control officers to State Game Lands in Hamburg, Pennsylvania.

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/77014526Sula leucogaster (Brown Booby)2021This is the only observation of any booby in Philadelphia. It is pictured flying over the Philadelphia Navy Yard. There have been two more Brown Booby sightings across the river in New Jersey, too, so they're close, just seperated by a political boundary.

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/101560522Buteo Jamaicensis (Red-tailed Hawk)2021The Red-tailed Hawk is not an uncommon bird to spot in this city by any means. In fact, it's one of the most incredibly common raptor species you'll see here. What I found really interesting about this image is that it is a pair of them, which you don't see often in photographs (or at least I haven't), and also that it was taken above the iconic Philadelphia Musem of Art. There's nothing scientifically interesting about this observation, but I just thought it was neat in general.
