On the 29th May my parents celebrated their 50th anniversary. For that we were planning to spent a few days in Spain. However the situation changed due to the pandemic and instead we managed to spent a few days at the seaside. It was the first time in months since I've seen my parents face to face (but keeping a distance) so those were special few days... The film demonstrates the tide approaching. I found it surprising how fast and inexorably the water moves...calm but steady and indifferent. A fascinating (but frail) ecosystem.

16.4.-2.5.2020: Carmen unterrichtet an einem Gymnasium Mathe und Musik und ist allein erziehende Mutter. Nachbarin Annette ist Grundschullehrerin. Sie lebt mit ihren Söhnen und ihrem Mann zusammen. Während sich Annette überlegt, was sie für das Geld tun kann und wie der Glaube zu den Schülern kommt, hat Carmen nach anfänglichen "Coronaferien" viel Arbeit, den Unterricht digital zu organisieren.

Carmen teaches maths and music at a high school and is a single mother. Neighbor Annette is a primary school teacher. She lives with her sons and her husband. While Annette is thinking about what she can do for the money and how faith comes to the pupils, Carmen has a lot of work to organize the lessons digitally after the initial "corona holidays".

In der Altstadt von Marbach am Neckar sitzen die Profimusikerin und Stadträtin der Grünen Susanne Wichmann und der Antiquar und Schillervereinsvorsitzende Birger Laing vor dem Geburtshaus von Friedrich Schiller. Ohne Corona hätten sie sich nicht kennen gelernt. Zusammen veranstalten sie einige der sogenannten 1:1 concerts, die auf eine Idee der Künstlerin Marina Abramovic zurück gehen. Das gespendete Geld kommt freischaffenden Musikern zugute. Als Dritte im Bunde drehte ich gratis einen Werbefilm zur Unterstützung der concerts. Dabei habe ich die Gelegenheit genutzt, zwei Marbacher "Funktionsträger" zu ihrer Einschätzung der Krise zu befragen. Persönliches und Gesellschaftsrelevantes kam zur Sprache.

The is film, which title is narrating more clear of the films circumstances than itself, is produced and presented by the artist Jos Diegel, although in 2020 in times of Quarantine due to the worldwide pandemic, this Film has been created collectively within a workshop lead by the artist Jos Diegel at "Schule fьr unabhдgigen Film“ (school for independent film) in Frankfurt, which is headed by Arnd Tibor Koch. Analogue 35mm and 16mm Filmmaterial has been painted and scratched on by the students during the experimental film art class. The collective film production and experience offers a playful and artistic approach into filmmaking itself and teaches the visual basics of filmtechnic and material.

At the beginning of the Corona lockdown, Magdalena, a student, returned from her place of study in Norwich/UK to her home in the Black Forest. Why? Der Kurde und Geografielehrer Hawkar ist seit vier Jahren in Deutschland. Hier fährt er Taxi und lernt die Deutsche Sprache. Er hat nur noch wenige Fahrgäste. Hawkar hat keine Angst vor dem Virus, einige Fahrgäste schon. Sein Taxi hat er mit Zwischenscheibe angepasst.Teilweise verlangen die Fahrgäste von ihm, eine Maske zu tragen, obwohl er das als Fahrer nicht darf. Hawkar hat in seiner Heimat Krieg erlebt.

The Kurd and geography teacher Hawkar has been in Germany for four years. Here he drives a taxi and learns the German language. He has only a few passengers left. Hawkar is not afraid of the virus, some passengers are. Sometimes the passengers ask him to wear a mask ... Hawkar has experienced war in his homeland.

Hiltrud und ihre Familie sind seit 1939 Wirte im Gasthaus "Zur Machtel" im 360 Seelen-Dorf Neuschleichach im Steigerwald/Bayern. Die ersten Lockerungen der Coronamaßnahmen sind gerade mal eine Woche alt, Gäste dürfen mit Abstand wieder in der Gaststube sitzen, am Stammtisch geht noch nichts. Sagrotan steht herum, die Einwohner füllen die "Corona-Liste" ohne Telefonnummer aus, man kennt sich.
Hiltrud and her family have been hosts at the inn "Zur Machtel" in the 360-soul village of Neuschleichach in Steigerwald/Bavaria since 1939. The first loosening of the corona measures are only a week old, guests are allowed to sit in the restaurant again at a distance. The inhabitants fill out the "Corona contact data list" without telephone numbers.

Doch Vater und Sohn haben den Förderantrag nicht gestellt, da sie über die Runden kamen und andere es nötiger hätten. Kunden bestellen mehr online und wollen kontaktlose Lieferung. Serkan, ein Freund aus Kindertagen schneit immer wieder herein. Er spricht über Radikalisierung und Altenpflege. Auch über seine Nähe zur deutschen Kultur als "Papierdeutscher".

Von Träumen und Lebenszielen, vom Rauchen mit Maske, der großen Liebe, von Toleranz und Selbstbewusstsein und vom sich selbst lieben. Am Ende spricht Steffi auf Türkisch.

Max, 18 und Steffi, 15 chill out again and again on the same bench in front of the landscape painted on a garage. Die Ludwigsburgerin Luise ist Sängerin und Stimmmaseurin und ihre amerikanische Freundin Jeanne-Michèle Sängerin und Professorin in Lausanne. Als „Corona“ kam, unterrichtete JM von Berlin aus empathisch übers Netz. Sie wirft einen Blick auf ihre Heimat USA. Luise hat seit Wochen keine Stimmmassage mehr gegeben. Den Ruf zurück an die Hochschule hat JM vor Tagen erhalten. Die beiden sind auf der Durchreise, am Abend zuvor wurde die Grenze wieder geöffnet. Ob sie als Paar ohne Trauschein beide einreisen dürfen?

Susanne Pape kommt aus der ehemaligen DDR, die sie 1987 verlassen hat. Sie ist aus Leidenschaft Deutsche und stolz darauf. Die Entwicklungen im Lande sieht sie seit 2015 mit großen Bedenken. Ihren Vater, der Syrer ist und in der DDR studierte, sieht sie nur über Videochat. Zur Mutter hat sie keinen Kontakt. In Coronazeiten hat sich ihre Meinung zugespitzt und sie besuchte verschiedene Demostrationen. In der Schillerstadt Marbach rezitiert sie Goethe.

Susanne Pape comes from the former GDR, which she left in 1987. She is passionately German and proud of it. She has been viewing developments in the country with great concern since 2015. Her father is Syrian and studied in the GDR. In Corona times she visited different demonstrations.

Der Karlsplatz in Stuttgart, Schausteller aus ganz Deutschland machen bei einer Kundgebung und einem Korso mit Motivwagen auf ihre existentiell bedrohliche Lage aufmerksam. Seit Corona keine Volksfeste und Märkte mehr. Freude und Tradition unterbunden. Sie appelieren an die Gremien und Kommunalverwaltungen, wieder arbeiten zu dürfen. Auch beim historischen Jahrmarkt auf dem Killesberg ging es alles andere als rosig zu.

The Karlsplatz in Stuttgart, showmen from all over Germany draw attention to their existentially threatening situation. Since Corona joie de vivre and tradition prevented. They appeal to the committees and local authorities to be allowed to work again. Also at the historical fair on the Killesberg, things were not rosy.

On the 29th May my parents celebrated their 50th anniversary. For that we were planning to spent a few days in Spain. However the situation changed due to the pandemic and instead we managed to spent a few days at the seaside. It was the first time in months since I've seen my parents face to face (but keeping a distance) so those were special few days... The film demonstrates the tide approaching. I found it surprising how fast and inexorably the water moves...calm but steady and indifferent.

Lang war nicht klar ob und wie überhaupt gefeiert werden kann. Schulleiterin Silke Benner findet unkonventionelle Wege. So hat sie auch 12 Jahre als Schulleiterin "überlebt".

Dort erzählt er uns, wie in der Schweiz mit dem Coronavirus umgegangen wurde.

Samstag zuvor wurde in Baden-Württemberg die Ausgangsbeschränkung ab 20 Uhr festgesetzt. Die neue Situation erfordert neue Lösungen. Das Geschäft ist jedoch eingebrochen, große Bestellungen für Weihnachtsfeiern und Feste fallen weg. Kunden werden aggressiver. Doch Guljit behält seinen Optimismus.

Lorenz Obleser, Schulleiter der Freie Schule Christophine, einer Schule in privater (freier) Trägerschaft, denkt über die schülerfreie Zeit vor Juni 2020 nach und auch über die letzten vier Wochen, in denen Unterricht wieder mit den Schülern stattfinden konnte. Bedeutung von Bildung durch Schule an sich und besonders in der Zeit der Distanz hat viele Aspekte, auch und gerade bei der Marbacher Pädagogik.
