BMI and Body Composition Analysis in Living Liver Donation Candidacy
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a screening tool used for overweight and obesity in clinical settings. However, BMI has limitations and is imperfect in its assessment as it does not take into consideration muscle mass and body fat, which can be additionally important and insightful. Bioimpedance analysis is another measurement tool that can determine the level of muscle mass and body fat for clinical nutrition assessments. Our center defers or declines liver donors with BMI >35 and/or MRI PDFF 20% (liver steatosis). We are interested in analyzing body composition reports for liver donor candidates that have undergone evaluation from 2019-2024. Body composition reports are available in an excel file. We are looking for a student to organize and analyze the data for possible publication.

The Results of a Virtual Community Nutrition Education Program for Kidney and Liver Transplant Patients
In Spring 2024 (February – March), the USC Abdominal Organ Transplant Nutrition Services offered a 6-session, one hour weekly nutrition education series taught by dietitians and nutrition interns. The series focused on general nutrition topics adapted for the transplant population to promote health. Attendance records, pre-/post tests, self-reported health and feedback surveys were collected. We are looking for a student to organize and analyze the data for publication.
