Unless you're an endgame player who knows exactly what piece of gear you'll need, I recommend crafting a piece that can be used by as many heroes as possible.

What sets are the best?

Speed and Immunity are the best sets to craft, followed by Counter or any bruiser sets if you plan on building bruisers.

Speed = Immunity > Counter > Everything else except Golem/Caides/Unity sets UNLESS you know what you're doing.

You'll definitely want to craft a right side gear (necklace, ring or boots) as it is harder to get perfect stats on those.
