nearGreen
Near Green is a healthy-food-finder app that’s committed to food justice and food security. It’s based in part on the healthy corner stores initiative by the City of Philadelphia. We’ve connected with Hack for LA’s Food Oasis team. Philly’s chapter of the National Diabetes Association chapter has been really interested in the app, too, because it aligns with their goals.
"We plan to get started around April 10th and get this app done! We need people interested in data — collecting, cleaning, etc., because there’s no single datasets. Those who love APIs are also welcome, and those with interested in marketing, user research, testing. We may be using a Python backend and React frontend, or we may scrap everything and start from scratch. Join us! We’re friendly and definitely building a team that wants to work in April, May and June and get Near Green to launch."https://codeforphilly.org/projects/near_green

"Engaged Status" Definition:

Code for Philly Leads have a broad definition of 'active' projects. To be considered active, we assess a few factors:
- A project's Code for Philly project entry (eg 'buzz' posts),
- Github repository,
- Slack channel discussion,
- Event and Hackathon attendance
24
25
Remember, you can always 'adopt' a dormant project!
They would love someone to look after them. Many represent great ideas that hit a technical challenge or time-commitment challenge. We bet you can fork the repo and crush those blockers. Examples:
