Had what I think was a very good meeting. I ran 20 minutes over my "30 minute" call. Most of it was me ranting about my list: PLATFORM STABILITY, KEEPING / IMPROVING RTML, and IMPROVING TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION W/ STAKEHOLDERS.

One of the things I like about NOT being a developer, nor working "for" anyone is that I can ask the uncomfortable questions and bring up sticky issues that would be career suicide. I think our quick and dirty survey opened their eyes to the reality of what retailers are thinking.

We didn't even really talk about "shiny new things," but about making sure the old timers don't get forgotten about while they also develop all this cool new stuff.

PLATFORM STABILITY -- I asked for independent, 3rd-party KPIs (tools.pingdom.com?) for tracking and reporting uptime of both store AND manager AND APIs so instead of anecdotes we'll have data. I asked for more transparency with technical issues, like NOT rolling issues off the system status page when fixed.

KEEPING / IMPROVING RTML -- There IS a future for RTML. Y! says they want their long-term customers to stay because they're happy, not just because the risks of moving off-platform are too great. I asked for a public commitment from Yahoo! that says they will continue to support this very stable store-building method no matter what bright shiny new things they roll out.

IMPROVING TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION W/ STAKEHOLDERS -- I asked for the creation of an advisory board (7-10 retailers and 3-5 developers) to be able to raise stakeholder concerns and address issues. They agreed that keeping stakeholders in the loop would be a good idea. If respected retailers and developers said, "don't worry, it's fine, go sell something," I would sleep better at night.

Actions speak louder than words, but I think they heard me and want to hear more.

The only trouble we are having is with Google Shopping. We have signed up several times, are on for a while and then they take us off. We would like that addressed if possible.

I think customers leave my site when they only have the paypal option. Not sure if everything is working correctly. I've had a store for many years and have thought to shut it down several times due to lack of sales.

This has been really negatively affecting us lately. I had taken some work home and was unable to log in at all last night, I do a lot of work from my home computer, and I had to push that work back to today. This is happening across several browsers. This is a very high priority work stopping disruptive issue.

The api connection should be built in for USPS as well as Fedex, similar to the way its handled for UPS. We should not have to pay a 3rd party for this service.

2 - Reviews should be a standard store feature and, again, should not be handled by a 3rd party with additional fees.

Maybe we were just lucky? Or, maybe this effected larger stores. We have 250 - 300 products.

I have to use the back button to get back into store editor, copy what new items I have put into the section and then update section which does not update bur sends me to store manager. I then have to sign out, sign back in, go into store editor, back to that section, paste the items into the section and hit update. This has happened numerous times.

2. Where is the improvement in Yahoo Store in the last 2-3 years?
3. % sales fee is a horrible way to bill for an ecommerce platform.
4. What was awesome in 1998, doesn't fly today. We need more of everything - features, app integration (that Big and Shopify have), easy to use inventory that automatically controls order-ability.
5. I subscribe to the shopify blog to get informatoin about ecommerce, I hear almost nothing from Yahoo... well except partner/affiliate offers from paypal.

However, I think the Yahoo Ecommerce Platform is over Priced and antiquated.
As well as Yahoo's customer service has gone Down Significantly in last couple years and needs to get more Updated, Etc as some of the other platforms such as Shopify & BigCommerce and at this point in time if I had More time to deal with it/switch platforms, I would leave Yahoo and get on board with either Shopify Or Big Commerce.

Features like coupon code discounts should be editable, ability to resend gift certificates or issue merchandise credits instead of just refunds. Offer USPS and FedEx as shipping methods. Ability to take phone orders through the editor not just using it as a customer.

3/26/2014 15:52:551-3 EDITOR / MANAGER Login ProblemsYahoo Store ownerthe things that still irritate me years later about store editor is how if you sit on an edit page too long or get distracted by another task while you are editing, when you try to save changes you may get suddenly kicked back to a blank page and you lose all the changes you had made to that page up to that point. At least at Amazon you may have to re-login... but they take you back to a page that saved your edits you had made up to that point.

Also it really irritates me that the shipping confirmation box is still not large enough to display a whole USPS confirmation number. That seems like it should be an easy fix ! It is so dumb I have to scroll through the box to see the whole USPS confirmation number!

And why is it that Yahoo Store does not allow for blogs as part of the domain???
Not a subdomain, but 'domain.com/blog.html'

And checkout pages need to have more flexibility for customizing.
Most Yahoo stores checkouts are poor in my opinion.

Responsive design templates would be a MAJOR benefit.

StoreMany merchants want to move, but have held back due to perceived migration risks. But the risks to staying on the platform are growing due to mounting front and back-end stability issues. New features are needed and are important for sure, but reliable performance trumps all other issues...

... in my humble opinion.

Store ownerJust last week I experienced problems logging into the store manager in Chrome. The problem persisted for quite a while (hours) which was very disruptive. Other colleagues have had the same issue.

We're also anxious to implement the buy one get one free promo, which is still not available. This promo is the most appropriate promo for our products so it is very disappointing to not have that feature in the store. [name witheld]

Feature set functionality is dated, too expensive compared to other ecommerce platforms, not that helpful for seo, sadly will close my beautiful, 13+ year Yahoo Store this week or next.

I’m just not happy with the back it of the store. Just seems so outdated. Since January I’ve been testing out some other platforms. I’ve pick the top two I like.
Volusion and Big Commerce. I think I like Big Commerce better. Bandwidth is the biggest issue with Volusion.

I use a couple drop shippers with my own products. I have a hard time updating my inventory because my vendors use their product code as there ID and Yahoo use their own ID. Which I use as my product name to better seo. So updating the inventory on existing products is a real time consuming.

Few other ideas.

Deal of the day with count down timer.
List on ebay or amazon through the store.
Abandoned cart feature
Mobile app for the back end of the store
Mobile/Tablet version of you online store
A way to customize emails that are sent out to customers.
Have the option to get the advanced yahoo web analytics to help grow your business in the starter plan

In order to track orders, you have to scroll through pages of order numbers, if a report could be exported to show non-shipped orders or orders where payment hasn't been charged, it would be much easier.

The main problem is the platform is old and isn't changing anytime fast. Over 2 years ago ago, Mike Ober talked about an exciting new feature where we could start running "buy one get one free sales" to date, that feature is still not available. Overall, I would hazard to guess that 90% of all of the larger users for Yahoo Stores would leave if they hadn't heard of horror stories about changing. My humble two cents.

It would also be nice to have access to the root of our server.

This causes super frequent problems with my email as well, since it's the same password. Very, very annoying!

This is a fix they need to work on without uploading all 20,000+ images again!

It randomly does not accept the email. Example on Monday 74 accepted 24 not for no reason. So we had to go in an manually enter tracking and click ship in Yahoo backend. Email and XML template and mail service all executed.

We are now emailing directly out of shipworks to our customers instead of having Yahoo stores do it. So shipping information into Yahoo Stores will show unshipped.

- As a longtime user (since 1999), it feels like nobody is minding the "store". Y store seems like an afterthought. The communications we get (which are rare) are the standard, boilerplate templates.

- Where is the innovation? Where are new features?

- Seems like Y store took the platform as far as they want to and now they are simply resting on their laurels and are happy collecting monthly rent. There doesn't seem to be a compelling reason to move to Y store, and it's very difficult / painful , etc. to move off the platform.

Getting a quarterly "how are you doing" email from my "rep" is a joke.

In my mind, I picture myself visiting the Y campus. I walk around and see lots of hustle and bustle in all of the departments (especially mobile, which is the sexy part of the internet these days). When I get to the Y store department, I see a guy on a blackberry and a windows 98 computer. Get the idea?

- Mobile... unboundcommerce is a joke. Zero support. Poor reporting. Why doesn't Y store have a true mobile solution?

I could go on and on...

There has to be a way to retain the cc number longer than a month.

How can we generate a report or downlonad the field that would show if an order had the credit card processed or not? I need to know if we missed any processing of credit cards on the orders.

Yahoo! Analytics has been a nightmare lately. Not up or not showing complete data. Thats enough for now! Rob you are still active in Yahoo! Stores?
