You could do this away from client and guarantee no one arrived on set with a fever.

Our industry is unique in that people come from all over for any specific project, gear comes from all over for any given project and during said project any number of people have access to touch, breath on or otherwise contaminate gear and people at any given moment throughout the entirety of said project.Nothing they can do to make me feel 100% protected. It comes down to what i am comfortable with on a personal level and that rings true for every individual on set. Enhanced workers comp. would be a start. I have no problem coming to work, however, if I become sick as a direct result I would expecy a certain amount of health care from production. Maybe that should come as a top down production insurance over and above existing.

I'm anxious and ready to go.I think it will take more than a verbal answer regarding people's health, especially with crew. I've been on many sets where crew was ill or not feeling well and still showed up because they didn't want to miss the income, shaking hands with other crew members, etc. I think those days are gone. We will need every crew member to show up healthy or send them home if they fail the "temperature" test.

Do writers start to write social distancing into things? Would that be possible with locations/ framing/ story? Since we can't wear face masks it all depends on what the action is that is happening. But it's impossible for makeup and wardrobe to be socially distant from talent, so there's that.Follow safe social distancing measure, people wearing masks and gloves, accessible hand sanitizers/ washing stations, crafty and lunch individualized.Having someone on set that specializes in these precautionary measures to help monitor this throughout the day since everyone will be concentrating on their own job. Also, just read the guidelines for Denmark/ Sweden film production that set up what seems to be a smart model: http://nordicfilmguide.com

It would make me feel more confident that I am doing everything I can to protect myself while taking a small risk to return to work. It may slow us down in some unforeseen manner, but I don't think it would be detrimental to the production.Provide sanitizer, require face masks for everyone and have spares for those who can't bring their own, choose locations where social distancing is possible, and make sure that everyone is on the same page about how these new precautions may affect workflow.NoLunches should be individually wrapped and not buffet style.

In the case of an AC, it would be almost impossible to maintain the camera while distancing from the operator.Having protective equipment on set (face masks, hand sanitizer, etc) and promoting safe practices. My biggest concern is when work picks back up producers will want projects completed faster to backfill the last few months of lost content and that will lead to corners being cut and crew being put at risk.I think getting back to work will be a slow process. Having less hands on set will make things safer, but that would mean things take longer, so budgeting extra time/less setups so that crew can be safe would help.

These are things that are going to be very difficult to change. More time on set will be the biggest change needed to help implement physical distancing and increased sanitation.Slow down! Production has become so fast and hurried. We have all adapted to that, which is fine, but we are going to need to reset those expectations to allow us all time to do things with fewer people on set, do things with more intentionality, and do things while keeping our distance from each other, as much as possible. Everything needs to be planned out more.Realistically, I don't know how safety is going to be addressed in a meaningful way. I want to get back to work ASAP, but I know it will come with some risks. Until there are more wide spread tests available that Production can easily get for us to have on set, or until we can easily set off some type of a disinfectant bomb in the back of the camera van to clean everything in one fell swoop, I don't know how we can make things 100% safe.Slow down. Patience. Planning.

I would push for boom or double boom whenever possible. I think it’s important to use lavs on one person a day and properly sanitize them and all their accessories when time permits. I’m not opposed to walking talent through wiring themselves up if they feel comfortable doing so. I think if we start wearing name badges with pictures of ourselves on them may help with talking to crew members you’re not familiar with or haven’t worked with in a while.Make sure everyone that can wear a mask, will wear one properly. Everyone should have hand sanitizer available.I think taking meals will be the tricky part. I imagine people will eat in cars or by themselves for the forceable future.I think it’s very important to have directors and producers on set that will stress that doing things safely is more important than anything else. I honestly don't expect to get back on set unless the these essential guidances are properly followed. And the crew must have right to refuse to work if the rules are not fullfilled.Minimum yet enough crew. One or two clients if that's possible. NO rush AT ALL. So production must plan a enough budget to be ready for longer days of a production. Also the bathroom must be sanitized often. If it's done at an indoor studio, it must be cleaned and sanitized ahead of a production. Please do not come if you feel sick.

Sets of brushes for each person. Make-up scooped out onto disposable palette paper. Proper sanitation of work area between each talent. Regular sanitation of make-up palettes and work areas. Having Talent in masks except for when actually shooting would take some extra last look touching up for hair and makeup. With access to a color corrected dedicated monitor could probably distance more and avoid some tight quarters on set.Adequate space to work in. Not all the “Vanities” and production crammed into a small space.Running water for washing of hands and tools. Masks, gloves, hand sanitizer available at all times. Reasonable amount of bath room facilities for size of crew with running water for hand washing.I think we would all have to be patient with each other. Especially the first few productions that start up. We’re all figuring out this new world together and I think we’ll really need to listen to each other. I think every thing is going to take a little longer realistically if we’re really following safe practices and just making a schedule won’t necessarily make it so.Lot’s of opportunities for hand washing. No open food/ snacks. More space for vanities as mentioned earlier. More dedicated monitors so everyone doesn’t have to be crammed together either on set or nearby. Masks / gloves/ sanitizer available at all times. Patience!😏

Masks are uncomfortable and tough to breathe in during normal activity but running around and moving furniture/doing the physical work of set deck is going to be thought we’ll need regular breaks to change gear and wash hands etc.Provide hand washing stations and sanitizer, gloves, lots of masks. Allow one department to work at a time, giving plenty of time for prep. Procure extra space for shoot days for art (and other) departments to wait off set until they are needed. Allow enough shooting time/days for turn arounds, different shots/sets on stage etc. Everything is going to take a lot longer and we need to not feel rushed in the ways we have in the past.I’m not necessarily opposed to the temperature thing but it’s a false safeguard since asymptotic people can spread the virus. We have to allow way more space and way more time to get things done. For instance renting two stages/extra location instead of one, to have a place to put set dressers, etc. Its difficult to see locations being functional at this time, honestly. I’ve been thinking about crafty, where instead of self serve maybe there an additional crafty person or two who can dish out items/beverages. This is all very scary. The way we have worked in the past is a recipe for spreading the virus.

Production which already has to clean up, handhold, arrange everything for the crew. Sadly most think we are employed full time by the Production company and get paid more than the rest of them which we are not true we are freelance too and the lowest paid Dept with no overtime, meal penalties etc, We have to take care of Agency, Client, Talent riders and other entourage including our own Line Producers, EP with tons of special requests, which a lot entails us cleaning up after them. Production is constantly jumping through hoops to make the impossible possible and dealing with last minute changes or personal tasks, travel, elaborate prepro meetings, working insane hours with no overtime or safety net. We are also the ones that the Unions give a laundry list of set requirements and protocols to follow that we have to make sure are covered. On more than one occasion, I have had to clean bathrooms, dressing rooms, pick up food leftovers, hotel rooms, pass vans, sound stages full of trash where the crew dropped and ran, all the motor homes, locations etc. that were so nasty your head would spin from disrespectful crew, talent, agency etc. So yes it is going to severely impact my job because Production is already understaffed and underpaid. We have been saddled with doing DOT filings that are intensive and take more time, although there are companies that do this, many Production companies do not bid for it and don't want to pay for the outside service. This would put the enormous burden of being accountable and in line for blame on the already overtaxed Production Manager, Production Coordinator and entry level PAs. Not to mention the health risk because we are not covered by health insurance, and the Production companies are not required to have PHBP, many have dropped it or have opted out. This survey leaves out the most important people that will be dealing with the restart of filming, which is the PRODUCTION Dept. Who is going to take care of PRODUCTION to make sure we are safe? The Production Companies give us their guidelines but when it comes down to it, they are not beholden to us. Rarely have I worked with a Producer that doesn't already phone it in, drops everything in my lap to ghost Produce, especially in the commercial world, where the Production companies would rather hire someone off the street with NO physical production experience than a seasoned Production Manager to Produce. The HOP or Bidder most with little or no on set physical production experience bid to get the job, not what the job needs and the PM and PC are expected to come in under budget. The Producer rarely makes any of the deals but will get all the credit if the job comes under. How in the post CV19 world are Production companies going to bid to cover all the extra requirements and time needed to execute a safe working environment. Production will need more people, an additional Coordinator and there should be a new position that is created with support to fulfill the new protocols.Everyone is talking about what they think should happen, assuming that Production will magically take care of it, like they always do. But this is a game changer. The Production department needs to be considered and the risk, additional work, manpower and time it will take when filming comes back. Production Companies need to bid with all of this in mind, stop low balling Production rates, stop hiring HOPs that don't know physical production and don't bid properly. Stop hiring Producers that do not know physical production and are not hands on, that are only in it for the Agency dinners and to look cool on set. The Producers need to be hands on and focused. Payroll should be done by a payroll specialist not the PMs, and bid for, digital time cards are not a solution. There is going to be too many rules on how "new Production" is run and too much responsibility and the turnaround is too short for payroll.Yes, create a health and sanitation department, or Wellness department, the medic will not be this person. The 1st AD will not be able to run around enforce hygiene either. The PM and PC will have enough to deal with, with Production Company, Agency, Talent, Crew's anxieties on set and general new rules. I have worked as a PM for over 20 years, I am very good at what I do and love my job. But I have watched my job become more and more overburdened. This new era scares the crap out of me, there are too many reckless Production people who will take on too much and things fall through the cracks it is already happening with the DOT, the union dept heads not doing their own clearances, underbid jobs where Production has to pick up the slack for other departments such as doing returns, ordering all of their gear, props, etc. Production can not be expected to take this on, on top of everything else. The incongruent level in which Production is treated is already too prevalent, the rest of the crew gets higher rates and Production rates are bid under because there is no union, whereas a Key Grip will get 700-750/10 a PM will be bid at the same rate since 2000. 600 or 650 for as many hours as it take, plus the free days because wrap is too short. This needs to stop. It is a new game in town, there is more liability and a slip up can cost a life or getting named in a lawsuit.

I already feel like there are a lot of things that fall into my catch all of responsibilities, and now I face the reality of being saddled with the responsibility of this? Am I going to be responsible for sourcing all of the PPE for everyone on set? I can't even find wipes for my family, let alone enough for everyone on set.Production needs to take responsibility and then enable people to actually be safe. It's easy to send an email telling people to cover their faces and social distance on set. And it's easy to print some signs to post around set. But those things don't actually keep people safe. They make for nice pictures to make Production feel like they have done something, but people turn to those of us actually in production management on set to keep them safe, and Production needs to give us the tools and resources (namely, time and money) to do it right.Production needs to work with agencies and clients to set realistic expectations for the added time and costs involved with how production is going to run now. If expectations aren't set, things are going to be rushed and corners will be cut.Everyone needs to feel confident to SPEAK UP when something doesn't seem safe or feel right. Production, including myself, can only do so much. This is going to take involvement and effort from everyone. Everyone on set needs to be responsible for themselves and not expect someone else to keep them safe. Personal responsibility that comes down from the top.

I have added to and increased protection and increases my expenses.Production should have a conversation with me in regards to what my requirements are because I am the one working within and talent. Hair and makeup needs are very different than other crew.my concern is that production doesn't think it is important to talk to us and will think gloves and hand sanitizer will be the only thing necessary. Just to give an example, we will need after each client to wipe down and disinfect the makeup/hair and our area in between clients. There cannot be this giving up 10 minutes to get 8 people ready situation. This is one of many reasons why they need to speak with us beforehand.hand washing constantly is going to be very important. Hand sanitizer doesn't cut it it is something to use when it you absolutely cannot wash your hands. CameraAustraliaVictoriaMetro41I'd be on set now if I could.YesYesYesLess than 5YesVery low riskNo, I plan to keep my rates the same.As soon as I'm legally able to.I would be willing to drive an entire day in a vanpool with other crew.It wouldn't really. We've worked through a plan for shifting how we do interviews so that it maintains physical distancing.Everyone working to the same safety plan. The only challenge we're seeing at the moment is when some people are physical distancing and others aren't. Making that part of a pre-job safety briefing would simplify that, and making exceptions with additional safety for roles that require close contact. ie. makeup, but with masks and gloves. Not really, but Australia has a really low infection / death rate, so it's a bit of a different scenario.Everyone having the same understanding of what the plan is. (masks, physical distancing..) it almost doesn't matter what the plan is, as long as everyone on set has agreed to and is aware of the same plan.

I have the highest likelihood of either catching or sharing COVID-19. In addition to the costs of PPE, of which we’d need to be fully covered, we’d have to figure out where we’d get talent ready while also maintaining distance and the time we’d need to take to effectively sanitize the spaces in which we’d get talent ready. Things like disposable items are necessary but there may be additional costs of product to avoid cross contamination.Access to PPE and sink for hand washing as well as providing enough time and space to prep talent. There would also need to be enough artists for talent. One artist with 2 or more talent increases likelihood of cross contamination/transmission.I worry about the smaller production companies that I work on frequently. It’s already difficult enough for them to adhere to common sense safety protocol like ladder safety and electrical safety. I have great concern for their lack of protocol during the pandemic.Masks, gloves, shoe covers (when working inside), and plenty of hand sanitizer AT MINIMUM. Furthermore, not working with anyone who has symptoms. I understand that asymptomatic carriers are a thing but if someone is symptomatic, then they definitely shouldn’t be on set. Doesn’t matter if it’s the flu or Covid-19 or a cold.

Director, Producer, Etc.United StatesCaliforniaLA30It depends on the project and location.YesYesYesLess than 20YesModerate riskNo, I plan to keep my rates the same.I don't plan on flying anywhere in the foreseeable future, for work or personal reasons.I only plan to work locally for the foreseeable future. This would be detrimental for on-camera talent but not for crew.Create as much physical distancing options and controls on set as possible.I don’t think hair and make up and talent are able to safely do their jobs. For large multi day productions, 5 days minimum before a production begins, the crew should be required to agree to a 5 self quarantine period, taking all reasonable precautions to insure everyone arrives to set as healthy as possible with lowest risk of asymptomatic carriers as well.

Also, providing masks, sanitary wipes, hand sanitizer and gloves would also be good.
