Food for FreeFood For Free improves access to healthy food by establishing innovative programming and partnerships to overcome barriers and strengthen the community food system. They believe that access to healthy food is a fundamental right. Food for Free envisions a future where everyone in our community – regardless of age, income, or ability – has consistent access to fresh, healthy, delicious food.

Through a combination of food rescue and transportation services, they give food programs year-round access to fresh fruits and vegetables. In contrast, their direct service programs bring food to students, seniors, and others most at risk of hunger. Their programs address short-term needs and the long-term health effects of food insecurity and poor nutrition while reducing food waste.
Food for Free has many weekly hands-on volunteer opportunities that provide food relief to needy people. Whether packing food, delivering groceries, or supporting seasonal markets or farm programs, you’ll get to work with good food and help people who need it! They need volunteers to help with all their programs, so depending on your preferred day, there is a program for everyone! Most volunteer opportunities operate out of their distribution center in the Inner Belt area of Somerville, MA.Individual and groupOne-timehttps://foodforfree.org/volunteer/D.J.
