Method:
1. The author consulted US and global product websites, resaler descriptions, curated product lists, research reports, news reports, human rights websites, brand sustainability statements, and customer product reviews.
2. In some cases, original packing was available to verify product claims. In other cases, direct company queries added information about product origins.
3. This lay researcher assumes that the more supply chain transparency, the lower the hidden risk of forced labor.
4. Therefore, the researcher assigned safety ratings to products with the most supply chain transparency accompanied by the assurance that said supply chain included mostly vetted sources.
