3/25/2026Kathryn G. Hansen Business ScholarshipEach year Illinois Administrative Professionals (IAP), at the University of Illinois, offer the Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship to students planning to pursue higher education in a business-related field. Kathryn G. Hansen was one of the founding members of the State Universities Civil Service System and IAP and, in her honor, IAP created this scholarship.

For the 2026-2027 academic year, one scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded. The scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books, or other related educational expenses. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Enrolled full-time as a high school senior in the 2025-2026 academic year in Illinois, progressing normally toward graduation.
• Plans to enroll in a college/university no later than the fall following high school graduation.
• Strong commitment to pursuing higher education in a business-related field within the state of Illinois.
• Preference will be given to those attending the University of Illinois or enrolled in a Pathways to Illinois college program (Pathways to Illinois, Undergraduate Admissions, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign).
• Involvement in co-curricular and community activities.
• Academic achievement.
• Resident of Illinois.
• Citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

3/27/2026John Juenger Scholarship TrustThe John Juenger Scholarship Trust will be awarding 3 $3500 one-time scholarships to FCHS graduating seniors who intend to enroll full-time in a post secondary educational program culminating in a degree and/or diploma.
Selection is based on academic achievement, citizenship, leadership, civic, community and church involvement, work ethic, and the essay on "My Life". The essay will not exceed 300 words.

3/31/2026Gerald "Jed" Foster Memorial ScholarshipGerald “Jed” Foster played varsity basketball for the Fairfield Community High School Mules for the 1966-67 to 1968-69 seasons. In those three varsity seasons, Jed set nearly every boys basketball record including single game, single season and career scoring records of 47, 726 and 1,707, respectively, as well as single game, single season and career rebounding records of 32, 389 and 932, respectively.
Jed captured the imagination of Mules fans everywhere during the 1968-69 season when he led the Mules to its best ever start of 22-0 and a Top 10 state ranking in then single class Illinois basketball. Wins over Mt. Vernon which included future SIU and NBA star Nate Hawthorn, and Benton led by future Olympian and NBA No. 1 Draft Pick Doug Collins, were highlights of the season. While the Mules would end up losing to Mt. Vernon in the Regional finals, that magical season captivated college coaches from across the country with admiring coaches frequenting nearly every game that season for a chance to sign the talented 6’6” big man. Legendary UCLA Coach John Wooden even sent his top recruiter, future Hall of Fame coach Denny Crum, to Fairfield to watch Jed and the Mules. But on National Signing Day, Jed decided to stay close to home and signed with the University of Illinois Fighting Illini where he was named co-captain of the Freshman team along with future Illini All-Century teammate Nick Weatherspoon. Jed finished his career at Illinois as a three-year letter winner.
Jed passed away in January 2021. In his honor, friends and family contributed funds to start the Gerald "Jed"Foster Memorial Scholarship to carry on his legacy by assisting FCHS youth in the pursuit of higher education.

3/31/2026Folds of Honor Military ScholarshipApplications are accepted each year between February 1 and March 31. If March 31 falls on a weekend, the deadline date will be extended to the close of the first business day following March 31.


Scholarship awards are up to $5,000…not to exceed $2,500 (minimum payment of $100) per term. If, after submitting a check in it is determined that the awardee has an unmet need of less than $2,500, Folds of Honor will only disburse the student’s actual unmet need, based on their school account balance. Remaining funds will be retained by Folds of Honor and may be utilized by the student at another payment term within the same academic year.


Applicants must reapply each year they are interested in receiving funds from Folds of Honor.


All application information must be submitted through the Folds of Honor online portal.


Documentation is not accepted via US mail, fax, email or over the phone.

3/31/2026The DCFS ScholarshipTuition and fee waivers are available to a youth or former youth in care for the first five years that the youth or former youth in care is enrolled in an Illinois community college or public university so long as the youth makes satisfactory progress toward completing his or her degree. The community college or public university must waive any tuition and fee amounts that exceed the amounts paid to the eligible student under the federal Pell Grant Program or the state's Monetary Award Program.

4/10/2026The Kielhorn Family Starter ScholarshipMission Statement: Dr. Thomas Kielhorn was born in Fairfield, Illinois, in 1941 to Charles E. and Lula Fern Kielhorn. Dr. Kielhorn and his brother, Charles, lost their father at a young age, and their childhood was one of thrift and hard work. After graduating from Fairfield Community High School in 1959, Dr. Kielhorn was able to attend Southern Illinois University because of an unclaimed home economics scholarship and a job serving food at a fraternity. Dr. Kielhorn earned his Bachelors of Arts and Masters of Arts from SIU, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. Dr. Kielhorn taught Political Science at Oklahoma State University, founded the political research and polling firm, Kielhorn and Associates, and was involved in local, state, and national politics. Dr. Kielhorn left a legacy to honor the love and hard work of his family and to recognize the financial assistance that allowed him to attend college. The Kielhorn Family Starter Scholarship honors, Lula Fern Kielhorn, C.E. Kielhorn and Dr. Thomas G. Kielhorn, and intends to provide a one-time, need-based scholarship for graduates of Fairfield Community High School who, because of hardship, might otherwise not attend college.

Purpose
The Kielhorn Family Starter Scholarship is established to assist a graduating senior from Fairfield Community High School who demonstrates academic promise and financial need. This scholarship is intended to support a student in their first year of college who may not otherwise pursue higher education without financial assistance.

4/10/2026Richard Lee Cox ScholarshipsRichard Lee Cox was born September 30, 1944, to Leland R. Cox and Vera Lee (Miller) Cox of Fairfield. He was raised at 400 North First Street, with his sisters Kay Marilyn (Jack) Vertrees and Judy (Jim) Gruner. As a young teenager, he worked at the Grill Café on Main Street, which his family owned. Ric graduated from Fairfield High School, and a community member helped fund his education at Southern Illinois University, where he graduated with a degree in Journalism. He then earned a Master of Journalism Degree from Columbia University in New York. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the years of conflict in Vietnam. After working as a magazine editor for more than thirty years, with Reader’s Digest and the Peale Center for Positive Living, Ric semi-retired and created an online company in Chicago to sell real estate. He again retired to Kauai, Hawaii, where he founded Aloha Angels, which generated funds for teachers, classroom activities, after-school clubs, and other education-related programs on the island. Ric passed away on April 13, 2017, in Kauai.

Mr. Cox has bestowed a generous donation to the Fairfield Community High School Charitable Foundation to be dispersed through the Richard Lee Cox Scholarship program.

The applicant must be a high school senior for the 2025/2026 school year to qualify.
The applicant must be an active member of Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative or the dependent of an active member of the Cooperative.
All applications must be signed by the applicant and parent or legal guardian (if a dependent). Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Applications must be returned to the Cooperative by 5 p.m., April 10, 2026. Applications will also be accepted by mail, fax to (618) 842-4497, email to Alyssa Parrott or by placing it in our after-hours drop-box at the Fairfield or Enfield office.
The applicant must be enrolled, or have applied for enrollment, in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year college, university, vocational or post-secondary school for the Fall 2026 term.
The drawing will be held on April 14, 2026, and recipients will be notified by phone calls and email addresses provided on the application. Limit one application entry per student.
All recipients are required to attend the Annual Meeting on June 12, 2026, at the Wayne City High School. Recipients will be recognized as part of the business meeting.
The scholarship will be awarded and paid directly to the recipients’ institution of choice upon verification of enrollment.

4/18/2026Anthony (Tony) Simpson Memorial ScholarshipAnthony Ray (Tony) Simpson was born February 14, 1962 to Kenneth D. (K.D.) and Shirley (Owen) Simpson. His grandparents were Bernard and Ruth Simpson and Emerial (Shorty) and Dedie Owen. His family has a history of being in the trucking business as both his grandparents, as well as his parents were in that business. Tony graduated from Fairfield Community High School in 1980 and later joined the family business, Simpson Transportation, Inc. He worked as a mechanic and welder his entire adult life. He took classes in mechanics at FCHS during his high school years, but did not obtain a degree in that field. He remained employed by Simpson Transportation, Inc. and was part owner of the business. His son, Christopher, purchased a portion of the company in 2020 and continues to operate it. In August 2020, Tony was diagnosed with cancer and after a battle lasting about a year and a half, died on December 7, 2021 at his home.


A scholarship was set up in his name, funded by family and friends, and will be dispersed by the Fairfield Community High School Charitable Foundation through the Anthony (Tony) Simpson Scholarship program.

4/20/2026Logan Kreiter Memorial ScholarshipLogan Kreiter, a 2022 graduate of FCHS, had a heart for serving his community and a work ethic that was unmatched. Logan was a member of the Fairfield Rural Fire Department and spent many hours serving his community through this organization. The Fairfield Rural Fire Department is offering one $1,000 scholarship in Logan's memory to a Fairfield Community High School graduating senior who has a passion for serving the community through volunteerism and work ethic. 4/24/2026Southern Illinois Coaches Association The Egyptian Officials Association along with the Southern Illinois Coaches Association recently held a fundraiser to provide a scholarship for area graduating seniors. This event gives 100% of the money raised back to the community in the form of a scholarship. In the past, the fundraiser has returned over $87,000 to area high school seniors. Fairfield Community High School participated in this fundraiser and is pleased to make this scholarship available to FCHS students.


The recipient will receive a monetary Scholarship. If multiple recipients are awarded, the monetary scholarship will be divided.


2. The scholarship is to be awarded to male or female graduating seniors of the Fairfield Community High School who have participated in at least 2 sports.


3. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholarship, athletic participation, ability, industry and integrity.
