1 Returns reporting itemized deductions on Schedule A are assumed to be using itemized deductions to reduce their taxable income, and are therefore categorized as Itemized Deduction Returns. All other returns are categorized as Standard Deduction Returns. Taxpayers with zero or negative AGI are not categorized as Standard or Itemized because their taxable income cannot be reduced further.
