Social Tech North Eastdrop in sessions for the tech and VCS communities to come together. Unstructured people can drop in to chat for as long as suits share experiences, ask questions and find out where they can get support.Open discussionAnyone working in tech or VCS.
Non Geordies welcome!
The sessions will be hosted by the Consult and Design team but will not, at least initially, follow a formula in terms of the proceedings, allowing people to come and go as is suitable for everyone’s busy schedules in a relaxed way.
Based on the response and if we feel it would work, people could be asked to do a feature talk or demonstration at some point, but the idea would be to provide a space for those interested in Social Tech to come together and socialise, develop ideas and share best practice.
Social Tech North East is run in partnership between VONNE the Voluntary Organisations Network for the North East (the umbrella body for VCSEs in the region) and Consult and Design, a values based software company connecting people with technology to change lives.

Human connection in a time of social distancingTuesday, April 7, 202012:00 - 1:30 PM

NetSquared LondonEnsuring human connection in digital service deliveryInteractive workshopCharities of any size looking to design digital services that meet the need for meaningful human connection
With a catastrophic reduction in the F2F contact many charities are going to have with their beneficiaries over the coming months, the direction towards digital services is a clear route that many will take. However, as we do this it is essential we take into account the negative impact the lack of F2F will have on beneficiaries and staff members alike. Designing digital services that meet the need for meaningful human connection should to be a priority for us all.
Led by the team at the relational design studio, Deepr, this interactive workshop will jumpstart a process where we learn and share:
- what we know already about achieving human connection in digital and F2F services
- how we can begin to apply this to the new digital services we're urgently designing and developing
- opportunities for us to work together to embed meaningful human connection in live projects
NetSquared London runs monthly meetups for local community members to come together to share ideas, ask questions, and collaborate around using technology for social benefit.

We are part of the international NetSquared http://www.netsquared.org community.

OutlandishParticipatory ways of working: An introduction to Sociocracy and consent-based decision-making.Interactive workshopPeople who are interested in alternative ways of organising and making decisions
Sociocracy is an alternative to more traditional, more hierarchical ways of organising. It’s used by many organisations around the world, and is one of the common ways to implement more participatory ways of working (Teal, Agile etc). Using this method helps get buy-in from team members at every level of an organisation, so people really understand why they are working towards a goal.
