The materials to make the artwork included a poster, construction paper, pencil, colored pencil, and markers. The artwork was drawn by hand and the hearts were generated using a punch / stencil. | In August 2023, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. My back has an "S" shape. To prevent the problem from getting worse, I had to get a brace at night when I sleep or when my back hurts. When I first got the brace, I thought anyone who saw the brace would treat me weird, so I tried to avoid telling people about it. The background of the poster has all of these "eyes" representing the way I felt in the past where people might stare at the brace or my condition. The artwork shows a portrait of me in the heart, wearing the brace and realizing that lots of people have this condition, that the brace helps and its not that big of a deal.
