Q: Why did you make this spreadsheet?
6
me in-game on the following characters:
A: I started trying out a private server, here on 2017-03-22.
7
I was surprised by how much I remembered about Vanilla,
8
Brq / Baroque
← wrong color btw ;)
but also annoyed by how much I either forgot, or didn’t know.

So I tried to get informed and documented basics over time.

Q: Are you playing Classic?
16
Spie
A: No, I have played Blizz Vanilla when it was fresh & relevant ;).
17
With everyone initially being completely clueless,
18
the collective deep dive into the unknown was 50% of the fun.
19
Can't recreate that experience unfortunately.

This spreadsheet currently contains 25 sheets. To see all tabs, use the scroll buttons in the bottom right corner.
Updated 2020-11-08, sheet containing some 2004-2006 insight added.
21
It contains just raw PvE essential class basics, without going into too much technical detail. No modeling/sims. No fancy representation or long stories. No role mechanics. No boss tactics.
22
<Kehitysvammaiset> speed run (old core):
Obviously some gear/talent choices are debatable and situational (encounter, race, group comp, buffs and buff scaling). Tailored to the current Retro core, which is 5-man raid content.
23
Current Retro core being the one released on 2018-06-06. This document has been reviewed/adjusted so far, it will become more polished over time. There is no changelog.

Naxxramas clear in 63 minutes - Baroque (resto shaman) - 2017-12-18
It’s defined around the freedom the 16 debuff slot limit gives in a 5-man raid, but also the lack of debuffs that will be up on bosses, which is all rather different from a 40-man setting.
25
This changes the dynamics/synergy of some classes a fair bit.

My UI is featured on the “my ui” tab. It’s updated often, as I'm writing my own simple QoL addon, named LogMetersToggle. I’ve also done minor modifications to several other addons.

First run, very messy. 1h02m13s from first trash pull to KT dead. I felt rusty on shaman (it’s been over 11 years).
WoW is primarily a knowledge based game. The element involving skill, is recognizing/anticipating patterns and reacting to them efficiently. For PvP, there’s the predication factor as well.
29
Many small and big mistakes from everyone. Huge room for efficiency improvements too. Too bad we didn’t do more runs.
It’s about dissecting the game and resources as a whole, or in a particular situation. Planned and real-time application of gained knowledge, is a process of continuous improvement.
30
Eventually this should evolve into a strong game sense, the ability to see things before they happen. This spreadsheet lists many consumables, don’t submit to private server buff autism.
31
I rather see people unlock their class somewhat to their potential, regardless of gear, serving group synergy. This mindset is very easy to spot in people, once you know what to look for.

EngInventory addon - 2019 Baroque edit
Never be satisfied with your own performance. Analyze by all available means, evaluate, adjust. There’s ALWAYS something to improve on, as individual AND group, be it in PvE or PvP.

Work hard, play hard. Be persistent. Treat others like you wish to be treated. Be modest, make friends, have fun. In the end, don’t take anything too seriously, it’s only a game.
