The top surface of the box is a metal plate with the engraving of a renaissance-style building flanked by other neighborhood structures and pedestrians. There are 26 rectangular windows and a top row of smaller skylights on the front facade of the building. Two point perspective from the left; below the engraving there are texts: Palazzo Madama; and then a list starting with 1.Palazzo Carpegna and ending with 4.Chiesa del SS. Salvatore. Inside the box, underneath the cover is another gold plate, this time with the inscription: 'Al presidente del Middlebury College Timothy Light Il Presidente del Lenato della Repubblica Italiana', signature and then date: '10 Agosto 1990'.

1 manuscript-style photo album. Thick leather cover for both the front and the back. Cover design: black rectangular frame; four sets of four circle forming a tetrahedral pyramid (flat); in the center, a flora diamond with the text 'Ezra Brainerd Tutor Middlebury College From Class '69' front and center. There are two clip hinges holding the album closed. Each page can hold four photographs on each side; all the photographs have been taken out. There is a note on the backside of the 2nd page stating that the album is a gift from the class of 1869 at the conclusion of their freshman year to their tutor, Erza Brainer, then 12 years and 7.5 months old.

2 gold sorority (Delta Phi Gamma and Pi Beta Phi) chain pins, both 7.5cm in length. For both pins, a small pin is chained (0.1cm width) to a larger pin. Delta Phi Gamma pin: the chain itself is only 5.5cm long; the smaller pin is shaped like a capital 'I' while at the larger end, the design is the greek letters positioned next to each other, delta, phi and gamma; the phi letter is pearl-studded.Pi Beta Phi pin: the smaller anchor is diamond-shaped; the larger pin is an arrow, with greek letters pi, beta and phi inscripted on the fletching; the shaft is studded with black and white pearls--there are 8 totals; the arrowhead is just an arrowhead. There is also a second chain from one end of the shaft to the other end of the shaft. The two pins come in a gold oval case 5.5cm in length diameter. There is a shield insignia in the center top of the case; inside, the case is insulated with red felt. Gift of Margaret H. Croft, C. 1912.

2 anniversary corsages for the 39th Annual Initiation Banquet program of various polyester fabric and plastic materials. One has 3 green leaves, 1 red (badly shrunk) flower and a red ribbon butterfly bow at the bottom. The other one has purple flowers with a white background and white ribbon at the bottom. The invitation (paper bounded by a red ribbon) indicates on the surface that the invitation is for Mrs. Grace Dowd. There are two purple flowers and a red triangle on the cover as well as the letters for the sorority, sigma kappa. Inside is the program for the 39th Annual Initiation Banquet of the Nu Chapter of the Sigma Kappa on Monday, March 5th, 1951. The sorority pin is made of gold; triangular. The Sigma Kappa letters are clearly visible in the center. Everything comes in a white paper box.

Shield: a red and blue 'X' span the diagonals of the shield; an eye sits on the top center; at the bottom perimeter of the shield, two hearts are chained together by a chain. In the center of the shield, there is a smaller shield divided in half: on the left side is a white lion; on the right, two keys crossing on the top and three stars at the bottom. The object comes in a plastic protective cover-wrap. Gift of Jean Scroggie, C. 1949.

Lucia and Rena Avery; 1898, 1901
1 pair of gold earrings. They were Alpha Chi pins converted into a pair of earrings. The Alpha Chi insignia is inscribed in the center of the pin with 10 stars on the perimeter. On the back, you can make out the inscripted names of the sisters along with the Alpha Chi letters. A screw apparatus attaches each earring to the ear; there is no penetrating needle. The earrings come in a pink box. Owned by Lucia Aver, C. 1898, and Rena Avery C. 1901.

From the ribbon hangs a second solid piece that indicates it is the RNC in Chicago, 1960. Design on second: chains of title plates that indicates that Robert T. Stafford is a delegate and governor of Vermont at the RNC in Chicago 1960. Similar design to first; ribbon is red, white and blue.

The parchment itself is a program for the 'STATE DINNER Fifty-first Annual Governors' Conference' at the 'Hotel El San Juan Intercontinental, San Juan, Puerto Rico; August 3, 1959'. Program includes speakers and a menu. Parchment appears to be made of papyrus. A red, white and blue ribbon wraps around the center of the parchment.

3 sections from three different canes that were used in the fraternity cane rush ceremony. Solid wood. All three have writing on the bottom to identify them but two are mostly faded and difficult to read. The readable piece reads 'Part of cane used in rush between '94 & '95 C.L.Ross'. Charles L. Ross was Class of 1895. Of the two badly faded, the larger of the two reads: "Piece of Cane [taken by] [name?] 91 / Sept. 24, 1887". The third piece is unreadable.

Inside, underneath the top cover, there is a plaque with the names of the United States Senate 100th Congress as well as a name plate indicating the case belong to Robert T. Stafford. There is a removable top to reveal a second storage section underneath. In the 2nd compartment, there is a card commemorating his service in the 100th Congress from Robert C. Byrd. In the first compartment, there is also a plastic black clip device.

The items came in a cardboard box with a note from Phoebe Brown: 'Dr. Ezra Brainerd's gift to my grandmother Phoebe S. Beach Lovell'.

Over time old rubber becomes hard and brittle with the end results as here. We saved in separate bag the original filler stem and a large section of the bladder...' The original laces were in very bad shape and whatever pieces of lacing are maintained in a plastic bag (2 plastic bags total). The game score is painted onto the football: Midd 6 Harvard 6 1923.

There is also a note accompanying the item that indicates the item belongs to President Stratton but is being donated by Mary-Lou McLeod Aagaard, class of 1952, who appears to be a relative.
