PURPOSE: Tests provide an introduction to the discipline of Western Dressage; the horse performs only at the walk and jog. The rider should demonstrate correct basic position, use of basic aids, and understanding of the figures. The horse should show relaxation; and harmony between horse and rider is important. The horse accepts the aids and influence of the rider. The jog should be a natural gait within the horse's scope and should demonstrate a swinging back.JUDGE:Ida Norris

2ImpulsionDesire to move forward with suppleness of the back and steady tempo.6.56.5shows a willingness to go forward but the back was tight today= steps a bit short and tight especially in the jog
28
3Rider’s Position, Seat, and HandsWell-balanced elastic seat demonstrating vertical, centered alignment, with light independent contact from hand(s)7.57.5nice alignment/ elegant seat only occasionally hands high and wide ast times.. would like lower hands closer together
29
4Rider’s Correct and Effective Use of the AidsEvidenced by the horse's responsiveness; steady elastic connection cultivating athletic expression. Accuracy - precise placement of the figures and transitions, the effectiveness of the rider's aids determines the accurate fulfillment of the required movements of the tests6.56.5this rider was very quiet and tactful with this horse today... I appreciate that. Accuracy was missing on clines and steering in freewalk today.

5HarmonyThe horse accepts the aids and influence of the rider with attention, relaxation and confidence; and demonstrates a willing partnership between horse and rider resulting in a free flowing performance7214this lovely horse looks generally willing but evidenced some tension today in the topline/back.

What a lovely horse! With correct development has lots of potential!

Additional notes: what a beautiful horse with developing ring presence! this rider was careful to only request what this horse could do today. I suggest you could gain a lot of points schooling centerlines to gain accuracy... and practice the freewalk ( steering) . work a lot more transitions especially down so the horse gains confidence and balance. Look for the horse to give 3 more in the poll and come more through the back as you continue to school it. the horse has nice gaits and a natural energy to now bascule the topline to produce more topline connection. Gain points at your final halt by looking at the judge or camera.. and acknowledging them ( it) :) ( we are here:):) ) and hold the immobility 3 seconds.. then do your tack check. If a horse will lower the poll BELOW the withers for free walk and it will show some overtrack it will gain points in the freewalk. This team is lovely ( riders alignment is elegant ) I only suggest lower hands a bit closer together..... loads of potential... keep going!
