General Notes, Instructions and Observations:
2
3
First, you want to copy this spreadsheet to your own (I have protected this one so nobody can damage it). Then, replace "Put your name here" with your name. Simply "X" off the recipes you have done, just like I did,
4
and it will update the information at the top. If you aren't sure how to copy it, see the tab below for "Tips to Make Life Easier".
5
6
BEFORE YOU START SMITHING:
7
8
1. You will want to review my posted list of tradeskill books and make sure you have scribed them all.
Link here
9
2. Make sure you visit Crescent Reach and Abysmal Sea and acquire the recipes for the quests available in these two areas as all of these recipes will count towards reaching 350.
10
If you are past the trivial point, or have previously completed the refinement quests you simply have to go through the NPC's dialogue prompts or say "recipes" to acquire these recipes retroactively,
11
as of the March 15, 2017 patch. Make sure to get these first as you will most likely get some freebie skillups.
12
3. The planar components for smithing can be a pain to camp so you may not need to get them all if you do most other combines first. You shouldn't need to do them all,
13
unless you already have all the parts, then go for it! If you have to camp it up, save all the tradeskill drops as you will need them for other skills.
14
Basically once you get over Smithing 440, its a game of "combine what you have" and then camp what you need.
15
4. Know what you know. Open the forge and use the tips on the "Make your life easier" tab for how to view it to best match it and the Master list of recipes to make it easy as possible.
16
5. I highly recommend that if you have storage mules or characters where you've shoved miscellaneous stuff over the year, that you log each one in and do an /outputfile inventory. While this wont
17
catch anything in their parcels, you can use this to easily identify tradeskill parts you have on hand without the need to camp/farm/gather. To take this a step further, if you are looking for a
18
specific component go into your EverQuest directory on your hard drive and search for "item name" if an inventory file comes up, then you can find it fast and easy without going through each file manually.
19
Personally, i use outputfiles in conjunction with Fanra's Everquest Inventory Report to keep myself and my mules organized.

CHOOSE YOUR PATH:
22
Are you a completionist? Then you will want to use the "Smithing Master List" tab to guide you through your recipe making.
23
Just want to end the pain? Then use the "Comparison Smithing" tab to quickly identify what you need to finish getting to 350.
24
25
ONCE YOU GET STARTED:
26
27
When you set out to get camped blacksmithing parts, get an extra or two. Unlike fishing, you may find you have some fails here and there, so its up to you in terms of risk tolerance. There are a few notrade parts so check
28
first before sending a mule/alt out to do your gathering for you. Also, check the bazaar, sometimes you get lucky and can save yourself some trips! Before you finish up camping a part, check on EQTC to see if that
29
ingredient is used in anything else and camp it all up in one trip if time permits. I was going to colour code the recipes by expansion but in the end I dropped that idea. While it made sense for fishing, other skills are not so
30
specifically zone-based. If you are working smithing or brewing, several tailoring recipes create and utilize products that are used in other skills. I have tried to identify all of the recipes that are either used
31
in OTHER smithing recipes or other skills by color on the recipe name column, so if you see blue or orange in the first column, be sure to check what that product is also used in and save if needed for your
32
future skilling before you discard or sell.
33
34
Maximum possible recipes is calculated by the total amount of known smithing recipes minus Class only quests, Deity Quests, "Does Not Learn" recipes, and "Does Not Count" recipes, along with
35
any other recipe that has a special mark in the column under my name. If you change any of these labels to an "X" because you have scribed them, the chart will automatically account that you know it, and your
36
list of possible recipes will adjust as well.
37
38
I'm working on a series of guides similar to this for all tradeskills, so if you have feedback on any way to make this easier to use, let me know! I've invested alot of time and effort into tracking down recipes and
39
trying to make this very easy and straightforward to use.

This chart represents more then a few hundred "man hours" of researching recipes, testing them, gathering data points, and working on presentation to make it easier for you so you don't have to chase it all down yourself.
