The "Save File" condition

There is a common idea of "permanent easy mode" caused by starting a new game over previously cleared save file. This is, put simply, mostly false. Something like this exists, but it has next to no meaning for a speedrun. In fact for the amount of time this mode exists, it being active will only be a hindrance to going fast. This condition is triggered by having interacted with a save file that had collected ~40 eggs (this could be inaccurate) in the current gameplay session. Once met, an alternate difficulty ruling is applied and it bleeds over if you start a new game. Common to this ruleset is that all eggs will now be collected with Flag=2, in other words, every egg you collect will push you towards neutral difficulty and/or anchor you there. The local thresholds are disabled completely, which essentially means there will be no adaptive difficulty in any direction. Another little detail is that even if you use a cheat to force hard or easy mode, all the eggs that are in slot #1 in a level will locally seal you in neutral mode upon collecting. The effects of this persist only for a few levels in Sunrise Spring. It is unknown at this time if defeating the Sorceress in the save file is a hard requirement for this ruleset to be applied at all.
