Climate Change 2021: what's new and how to talk about it -- Dr. Shreya Dave -- The conversation about climate has changed drastically in the last 2 years. What's the latest, how students interact with climate change, and hopefully some nuggets of ideas for lesson plans in this rapid fire, highly interactive session.
13
2Real Talk Round Table for Tech Coaches -- Ashley LaCroix & Tricia Faulkingham -- Many districts have found themselves in an entirely new world after the technology changes from COVID. This space is for technology coaches/integrators to have open and honest discussions about the challenges we are facing, the potential solutions others may have, the new exciting movements in their schools, and hopefully a safe space to share some laughs and laments.
14
3Tips for Building a Future-Proof Communications Platform -- Brian Hubbard -- It’s imperative districts develop a sustainable communication strategy that incorporates traditional voice calling and modern channels (chat, video) for effective onsite and mobile collaboration without exhausting their budget. We’ll share best practices for building a modern, unified phone platform, discuss why cloud systems are more cost effective, and present specific ways districts can use phone technology to improve district operations, enhance safety and accelerate emergency response. (ENA)
15
4Digital Signals: What are you telling your students? -- Craig McLellan -- Data produced by devices is what provides district leaders insight into the quality of learning. Visibility into student application usage and engagement data equips leaders with the information needed to track student engagement, safeguard student data, and assess the ROI of EdTech purchases. We’ll share how School Corporations are eliminating wasteful spending, inform professional development, and identify apps being used by their students and teachers that pose a threat to student privacy. (ENA)
16
5Engaging Students Through Citizen Science -- Erik Wade -- This workshop will focus on students developing a claim, gathering evidence, and interpreting data around invasive species and using the citizen scientist website imapsinvasives to document the findings. The work we do in the workshop will be modeled around the classroom experience which means we will be going outside to find samples, creating a claim, looking for evidence that supports or refutes the claim, then uploading our information on the website for other scientists to use.
17
6EdPuzzle, FlipGrid, & HyperDocs to Build a Video/Audio Library -- Holly Graffam -- Build student autonomy and student-paced content by curating a video and audio library for instruction and assessment using EdPuzzle, FlipGrid and HyperDocs. We will also examine how these platforms integrate with Google Workplace applications and Google Classroom. During this workshop attendees will have the opportunity to explore video libraries and well as create their own content.
18
7Laser Cutting & Engraving with Glowforge -- Jason Lanoie -- This session will show you how you can easily integrate a Glowforge into your already existing curriculum. We will show you how students at Windham Middle School are using the Glowforge to improve their projects and create unique personalized gifts.
19
8eSports for Beginners -- Jason Lund -- Looking to start esports at your school or want to know more about what it is? Join me in exploring the quick rise of this new sport and options for your school to participate in the new MPA sectioned league.
20
9Using Computational Thinking in Your Classroom -- Jeff Bailey -- Computational Thinking can unlock so many higher level thinking skills in your classroom. This presentation will give you access to some lessons and activities that will help you consider ways you could add these skills to the content you are already teaching. You may even learn that you use these skills already!
21
10Come Together...Right Now! Collaboration as Change Agent -- Jen Thomas & Jessica Brittingham -- This session focuses on the classroom teacher-tech coach partnership to maximize student achievement. 23
12Dynamic Dashboards Using Google Data Studio -- Jennifer Judkins & Jonathan Schmid -- Communicate complex ideas to less data savvy users through data visualization with Google Data Studio. This powerful and free tool can be used to turn spreadsheets into customized, interactive dashboards and reports. Presenters will share examples of how they converted challenging sets of data into actionable, easy to interpret information in the K-12 environment. Essential skills will be shared along with helpful video tutorials and templates to help participants get started.
24
13Coding & Making: A Review and Discussion of Tools -- Julie York -- There are so many great tools out there for coding and making in the classroom. This will be a panel discussion/share out of those tools. We'll start with examples and samples from South Portland and create a shared resource together of tools used throughout the state (and who uses them!).
25
14Making G Sheets Functional -- Rob Dominick -- Google Sheets is a great way to hold data, but digging through it can sometimes be a pain. Maybe you've entered data in the sheet yourself, or maybe you gathered it remotely through a Google Form. Either way, sometimes that data needs to be organized so it can be sorted through easier. Come learn about a few functions in sheets that will help organize and filter your data!
26
15Building Literacy Skills with iPad in K-5 -- Trey Bachner & Ryan Wiggins -- Discover how iPad supports early learning and can help close learning gaps. Explore the built-in features on iPad and a variety of education apps that can build reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Experience creativity apps that help students increase fluency and demonstrate their knowledge in creative and personal ways. (Apple, Inc.)
27
16Understanding the User Experience -- Jason Cote -- When you connect devices with a wire, it's very easy for those devices to report that they are functioning properly...but what happens when your users are still having difficulty? Or when the "network is terrible", but reports come in hours or days after they happen? What about random problems that happen on the network...how do you diagnose those? In this session, you will learn about the Aruba User Experience Sensor, and how you can use this device to track down those hard to solve problems and how to design a proactive response to network issues. (Aruba)
