flubbernuggetUnbound by Excision https://drive.google.com/file/d/15dauFXqVsDpnTu6UFdevjwg0mZxHKGrs/view?usp=sharingThis is one of those entries that just really stands out to me for the sheer enjoyment factor and artistry of it. You always have a very powerful and unique voice, but this is a song where you really use it an interesting way instead of just relying on the timbre to carry you. Even the rougher/less polished parts are rough in a way that works for the effect you're going for. (All of this makes me sound like a crazy hippie, but the short version is that this is awesome!) The soft vocals in the beginning and how they slowly built gave me chills. I absolutely love the effect of the vocal layers with the subtle growls in the background (although admittedly, some of this is that you're great at audio editing, and I don't want to make this too much of a producing competition). And holy shit, Flub. Those double growls at 3:25. I didn't know it was possible to harmonize growls, but you proved me wrong here. I really loved this, and although I haven't heard the original, I see why you wanted to choose this category.Never heard this song or this artist but I'm digging it. This was a natural fit for your voice and style. Good job on those backing vocals! The singing to music ratio of this song is fairly low, but what's there is pretty perfect for the song. You really sell the energy on this one, and have some impressive longer sustains as well.I didn't know what to expect when you chose the category. I was actually kind of worried this was going to be a mistake. However, you did the impossible and made dance/electronic/techno work for your voice. I got Linkin Park meets Sabaton vibes from this. This is your best song pitchwise to date, though when you sing some of your lower notes, it had a tendency to be ever so slightly off pitch. Your voice is out of this world flub. I'm so happy you woke up in this contest a couple rounds ago because this is the flub I missed. When you hit "unbound" I had goosebumps all over. Plus your layering? Incredible! I would totally go to a flub concert if this is what you chose to perform. I really don't have any other critiques *stands up and claps* big standing O from me. Let me know when your next concert is! You know who you are, don't ever lose that quality. A real headbanger this one was! Bravo.9.6

Haschel CedricsonDuct Tape My Heart by Freezepop https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kbAhNO870VXH0MJy61N5zca3-PmGCnfg/view?usp=sharingThis is a very hard song for me to rank, because I really loved listening to this, but I also feel like what made it stand out was the song itself and your excellent arrangement rather than the singing, and this far into the competition, I want to weight the actual vocals heavily. However, the vocals certainly get the job done--they're soft and chill and pleasant in a way that's really suited for the song, although the tone isn't always super polished (there are a couple of points where it wavers off pitch just a bit due to lack of control). As always, you have great musicality; the melody of this song isn't easy to sing and changes in really interesting ways, and you nail the falsettos. Your delivery of the spoken word parts is awesome. All in all, although I'm being nitpicky since the competition is heating up, I really enjoyed this, and you're a fantastic, creative performer.Whoah...I almost thought you were off pitch at first, but I just needed to hear the pattern a couple times to understand it. This is a really interesting vocal part and you're hitting it pretty amazingly well imo. Some highlights were the way you handled the sort of flat modulation-type notes during the chorus and the various stylings in the latter half of the song like the bits that were almost spoken word. This was unexpected but unique and interesting and you did a very good job with it.Your voice is crystal clear on this song. I understood each world clearly. You handled the pitches perfectly throughout the duration of this. You kept rhythm probably better than anyone else this round. This particular genre is hard to really nail down a song that isn't just repetitive, however there were so many little intricacies you did in this to make it interesting which I almost didn't get until I put headphones on. You had the voice layering well and you really did some pretty cool things with your voice in your upper registry that I hope goes noticed by others. I actually have nothing to critique you on. "And a hole was in my shoe" made me chuckle. I think this is definitely a slam dunk for you. Bravo! This was unique, this was quirky, and REALLY fit your voice well. And you just executed it so flawlessly. Well done.9.567

lilith2013Clarity by Zedd (tt. Foxes) https://soundcloud.com/user-989649182-237388472/clarity-zedd-ft-foxesThis was lovely! As always, your ringing high notes are pure and crystalline and have a great tone. At first I wasn't sure what to think of the looping harmonies, but they grew on me a lot (and once again proved that your range has no upper bound). And I enjoyed your very analog version of pitch distortion at 3:18 too. :D Your pitch and control in your lower range has improved a lot over this competition, although there were points I felt like it still sounded a bit breathy and out of your comfort zone even though the song was pitched up (not sure if the issue is pulling your head voice too low or just having less control of your chest voice). I do think this was sort of a standard entry for you, and since the next rounds are going to be extremely tight, it couldn't hurt to start thinking of ways to make the next one stand out. But a standard lilith entry is still gorgeous, because you excel at your niche, and this was beautiful to listen to.Here you are again nailing the pitch on all these tough high notes! However, something feels just a little off about them and I'm struggling to explain what it is...I think it's the volume not really being there for what's needed on those backing vocalizations perhaps? You sound very good on the lower parts ("why are you my remedy," etc.) I do think this vocal part is a pretty challenging one, and especially those backing vocals probably were written with studio augmentation in mind. Also, I'm not sure if that's all you on that one long sustained note that rises during the build-up, but if it is, damn. That's some crazy sustain. You have a really unique gift that you seem to get more breath support in your upper registry than your lower registry. The moments I thought it was going to seem too high for you, you just powered through it. I thought that was probably the coolest part of this. In the verses there were some timing issues between your voice and the beat, which to be fair electronic/techno/dance category is probably the one category where people would struggle with this. In addition you have one of the most interesting issues in that once in a blue moon your notes go too high and become sharp. Most people have a flat issue, but a couple of the notes especially in the chorus were higher than the note that I would have envisioned. Aside from those things though, you really thought about this song including creating your own vocal slide in the bridge?! You're insane and I give you many props for really stretching yourself this week and showing us what you are truly capable of. I think this was a solid entry and you should be so proud this week. I loved it!8.933

SkeldaThe Sign by Ace of Base https://drive.google.com/file/d/1B5HF_lNtvh6Hlril1QqJhs-NFYggC3bD/view?usp=drivesdkGod, you have such a beautiful timbre to your voice. I would have to really split hairs to come up with any technical critique this time--your pitch and tone were pretty flawless, and it was clear you could sing this song in your sleep (although I think singing the melody and the harmony in the same track at the very end was a bit overambitious since you're human and need air to survive!). Shout-out in particular to your gorgeous oohs. I might be biased because I know how unhappy you were with the genre and how much you struggled with song selection behind the scenes, but it did feel at points like you weren't totally feeling the song. Like you were singing the notes themselves beautifully, but weren't fully sold on how to deliver them. (Or maybe it's just that you were trying really, really hard to dampen your normal Broadway power and holding back on earlier choruses so you could build up to the end. :D) But it was still very pretty to listen to. You're a really talented singer, even when you're singing in a genre that's not in your comfort zone. This song will always make me chuckle a bit, probably because of American Dad...anyway, I like the way you attack the chorus on this, it betrays your solid grasp on the fundamentals (breath support, e.g.) of this style of singing in particular. I do feel this one wasn't all too polished; it mainly felt like you were kinda doing your own thing and not so much in tight connection with the music. Which is ultimately not a big deal because this is a singing competition after all, but at this stage of the contest I'll be more on the lookout for these things to help me judge the entries. This was such a unique song choice for this category and theme, and yet helps show the variety that is the Electronic/Techno/Dance genre. Your pitch was so great and you really nailed the rhythm which is what I was caring the most about this week. Your vibrato is absolutely stunning on this song. You really handled the rhythm and pitch just so well. I honestly don't know who wins this round and I think you are a contender for it. I think the only thing I wasn't the most thrilled with was the quieter music in comparison to your voice. However, you just really nailed this. This final 4 is going to be so competitive and you are definitely in the running to make it to the end. Really really well done Skelda. Bravo.9.1
