Culminating Field Experience (CFE) OR Internship Hours
A minimum of
800 clock hours of field work/internship is required according to the following standards and guidelines:

1. 600 clock hours (minimum) in TWO OF THREE public school setting levels: elementary, middle, or high school with a minimum of 200 clock hours within each level. Candidates may choose to (1) complete 200 hours at each level of elementary, middle, or high school OR (2) complete 400 hours in one level and 200 hours in another level: elementary + middle, middle + high, or elementary + high.

200 clock hours (maximum) may be completed in other areas related to schools and/or counseling, such as field work hours needed for a Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) authorization (below).
3. Candidates receive academic credit for the culminating field experience or internship, and the experience is recognized primarily as a training activity with appropriate supervision by the cooperating school district and the program.
4. Within the 800 hours required for CFE/Internship, Candidates must have the
opportunity to work with students of diverse backgrounds (150 hours) including socioeconomic disadvantages, English learners, homeless youth, foster youth; students with disabilities (including Section 504 plans), students experiencing suspension and expulsion from school, sexual minority youth (LGBTQ+), racial and ethnic minorities; and understand information on school, district, State, and Federal policies and the impact of resulting practices.

School Couneling Performance Expectations (SCPEs):
Within the required field experience hours, Candiates must complete a
minimum of 100 hours in each of the following areas:
- Performance Expectation #3: Student Academic Development
- Performance Expectation #4: Student College and Career Development
- Performance Expectation #5: Student Social/Emotional Development

OPTIONAL Added Authorization:

Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) Authorization

As a part of the culminating field experience/Internship, a candidate may earn a
Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) authorization if they complete a minimum of 150 hours of supervised school-based field experiences engaging in supervised practice in the following areas: student attendance, student enrollment and discipline, educational records, parent engagement, and legal and ethical compliance related to pupil services. These 150 hours can be completed as part of the regular Preschoool/K-12 Setting Hours. Should you choose to seek this optional added authorization, please be sure to indicate the specific CWA hours within the Verification of Hours Log below.

Part I: Recording Your Hours
Use this form to document your hours obtained while supporting approved activities for field experiences.
Each individual sheet in this workbook will serve as your Verification of Hours Log for the individual Field Work/Internship Course.
You will complete a minimum of
800 clock hours of Field Work/Internship over the arc of the FOUR (4) required Field Work/Internship Courses, with support and supervision for each field work/internship course.

Part II: Verified Completion of Hours
At the bottom of this form, obtain the e-signature and acknowledgement of the supervisor from the cooperating school district and program at the conclusion of
each 8-week term.
To do this, (1) electronically sign the document within Excel and then
print to PDF, (2) print the current sheet to PDF and then sign electronically, OR (3) print the current sheet as a hard copy and then sign the document before scanning it as a PDF document.

Part III: Submitting Your Assignment
Save your assignment as a PDF, then upload this Verification of Hours Log PDF document to Canvas by the identified due date in Canvas.
You will have
FOUR (4) submissions for field work/internship, one at each conclusion of a field work/internship course.
