NOTES: Chronic is defined as homeless for six months or more in the past year. Active means recent interaction with the homeless serving system. Median is based on data from January 2018 (baseline month) to October 2018 (10 months of quality data). Further information is included in the Data Dashboards Overview - http://www.20khomes.ca/wp-content/uploads/20KHomes-Data-Dashboards.pdf

Edmonton had been submitting monthly aggregate (non-identifying) data on all active homeless to the Campaign since March 2017. In September, 2017, they began submitting Chronic Active Homeless data and achieved a Quality By-Name List. Since that time, they have been continually improving their data through regular re-examination of database design, data cleaning algorithms, and definitions. The data submitted to the Campaign for 2018 has been calculated according to the most recent data practices and is considered to be an accurate portrayal of the chronic population on the By-Name List over that time period. As such, Edmonton set its chronic baseline for January 2018. By-Name List fluctuations can be the result of a number of factors including seasonality, increased inflow, data entry practices, staffing levels, and list management protocol.
