FB videos from Schreibeis does not account for communication. There was not one bit of ANY communication between Principle, VP or one teacher ever with us or our student. Huge fail on DCHS part. There is no excuse why DCHS cannot do a daily update. We had no idea what was ever going on which led to many fights and tears with our student. And to be running into teachers all day every day....why r they not zoom teaching a class? Why are they not grading papers. We had to get after teachers multiple times to grade work. There needs to be communication with students AND parents so we can make sure our students are getting the work done, submitted and credited for it. Our HS students took a beating with grades because of this. | Very dissatisfied | 9 | Automated Phone call message, Text Message, Email, Website, GPS App, Infinite Campus App, Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) | If possible, school every day following all CDC/state/local requirements | Health Department and CDC regulations being followed, Symptom checks of employees required before entering school/workplace, Mandatory symptom checks required for every student before entering school, Classrooms and other gathering spaces cleaned and sanitized daily, Sanitizing supplies, including hand sanitizers readily available, Maintaining social distancing protocols | Public health regulations not being followed, Classrooms and other student gathering places not properly disinfected, Availability of disinfecting materials or PPE (personal protective equipment), Readjustment to classroom or school life, Student/Staff underlying health conditions | The learning includes a balanced combination of online and offline assignments and activities, Students are interested in and engaged by the material, Students feel challenged by the material, That there is enough work to keep the students occupied throughout the day, Students feels supported and have direct contact or ability to interact academically in the virtual setting with their classroom teacher and classmates, Students are receiving feedback on their work either through teacher or peer review | In my opinion DCHS dropped the ball so bad! It was not healthy or helpful for anyone... | Remote learning is not posting assignments and having parents help children complete. Remote learning is engaging with children via an online component...whether that is zoom, Skype, FaceTime. The education gap will continue to grow if learning was handled the way it was in the spring. Asking kids without internet or computers to drive to a campus and sit in the parking lot is not a solution. If the summer is filled with sports, baseball, tennis...and then you go back to no school...you will socially crush our children....and the school’s chance of ever earning trust and support in this community. | If it is going to be instruction...there should be a teaching component. We had virtual assignments posted to a platform with occasional check-ins. We do not fault the teachers...but if that is the plan moving forward...the administration has significant work to do to educate teachers on “how” to teach remotely...remote instruction should be instruction. If that can’t be achieved....send home a packet of documents and ask them to be returned at the end of each week...and save us from the multitudes of passwords, platforms, and busy electronic work that not everyone can access. | Our community is already skeptical of our school system...not opening when colleges are open and students are living on campus...seems ridiculous. The flu comes back annually as well as cold viruses so this will likely add to the mix. This virus like many others will be present annually. We can't live this way forever so it's time to start getting back to a full normal. Hand washing and basic cleanliness should he expected always but no more masks, distance learning, etc. If this is what schools look like when my daughter starts in a few years, I will choose to home school. Education is very important and I speak for many when I say social interaction and normalcy are very important within education. |
