AnnoucerSimone MontgomeryThe Announcer keeps swimmers, officials and spectators informed of the proceedings. - Calls each event for marshalling

MarshallSam HillLiaise with the Announcer to call swimmers to report to the marshalling area. - The Marshall will then direct swimmers to their numbered seats before directing them behind their designated starting blocks, in their race number order prior to the race starting

StarterNick BerryWhen starting an event, the Starter stands on the side of the pool within five (5) metres of the edge of the pool where the timekeepers can see the starting signal and the swimmers can hear the signal. - The Starter has the power to decide whether the start is fair. If the Starter does not believe the start is fair, s/he will recall the swimmers.

Check StarterTristan WattsEnsure that swimmers are seated or standing behind the lane in which they are to swim before the completion of the previous heat. - Information of last-minute lane changes or amalgamations must be relayed through the club room window

Chief TimekeeperSarah CaseyThe Chief Timekeeper must brief the Timekeepers on their duties and procedures. - Use a manual stopwatch for each race to check the time of the first placegetter or any possible record breaker. - Use a clip board to signal to the starter that the timekeepers are ready for the start of the next heat

Meet Manager OperatorGaye TrembleThe Meet Manager Operator maintains the Club database system of members, swim times and points. - The Meet Manager Operator provides prints for competition nights, carnival selections, points, championships eligibility and heats. - Swim times are entered, and points calculated weekly.

Meet Manager AssistantMandy CharnockWorks alongside the Meet Manager Operator. - Receives notification of any swimmers that have “scratched” from their race and must record these on the run sheet. - Ensures that the timer is reset and starts for each heat (this can be seen on the computer)

Lane 1DoolanOur club uses semi-automatic timing equipment whereby the stopwatch is started electronically by the starting device.

Timekeepers need to stop their stopwatch immediately when some part of the swimmer’s body touches the finish wall. This is done by pressing ONE button on the dolphin stopwatches.

If you are using a manual stopwatch, you will need to record the time on your run sheet. This timer will need to be reset and started manually for every heat.
