Puerto Rico vs. the Dominican Republic line-by-line results. (You do not need to record all this info when you play, this is to help you look up numbers on cards to learn the game)
2
3
We list the pitcher in Column A, and how much endurance he has left in column B reducing it by 1 every time he allows someone to get to 1st base or to score. At 0 you need a reliever.
4
The batter is listed in Column C. We then list what we rolled on the 2-sided dice (column D), whether or not that was in the pitcher's PB range to keep it on his card (Marichal 2-8)
5
or on the batters card (roll of 9-12). In column F we listed what the two 8-sided dice read with the colored dice determining 10 through 80 and the white 1 through 8.
6
The number we rolled in F shows the item listed in G from the batter or pitcher card. The 20-sided die is not necessary, but if used it tells you where the ball was hit if there is
7
an out and if players are on base this lets you know if there was a double play, or if runners advanced or stayed on their base, etc. If playing the advanced game with fielding info on
8
cards, then a roll of 18 or 19 would be used to check for errors, and a roll of 20 with men on base could lead to unusual plays or clutch defensive or offensive plays. However, we
9
are playing this game with the basic rules, meaning the 20-side die is only used to determine where an out was made. In Column I we describe what happened on each play to
10
help you understand the game, and then we use the last four columns to keep track of how many outs there were after the play, and what bases people were on and the score.
11
When the line is BOLD it means the Dominican Republic was batting, and when it is not then Puerto Rico was batting. Here are the results of every roll in the game we played:

Juan Marichal13Roberto Alomar5Pitcher55Out3In Tier 1-Simple level this is simply Out, but we played this as a Tier 2-basic game which does use the 20-sided die to determine where the ball was hit and if runners advance, so the "3" on the 20-sided die tells us this is a grounder to 3rd base and if a man had been on first it would be a double play. However, the 20-sided die only matters if there are less than 2 outs and someone is on base, so all you really need to know is the result in column G, that this is an OUT.1None00

16
Juan MarichalRoberto Clemente2Pitcher23BK9Out - if anyone on base, then a BK (balk), WP (wild pitch) or PB (passed ball) on the pitchers card advances all runners one base and batter continue to hit. However, with noone on base it is an out, and the "9" on the 20-sided die makes it a lineout.3Top of inning over00

However, if we were playing Tier 3-advanced this would have been a single, because an 87 (or 88) is turned into a single if the batter is left-handed (like Ortiz) and the batter is right-handed (like Figueroa), or if the pitchers is left-handed and batter is right handed. However, if we were player Tier 3 - Advanced, then a left-hander gets a left-hander out on rolls of 11 to 15, and a right-hander gets a right-hander out on 11 or 12, but a swtich hitter is never effected either way.31st inning over00

Ed FigueroaAlbert Pujols9Batter77Out19This is the 1st time the 20-sided die actually mattered in this game. If we were playing Tier 1 - Simple game, then this would be an out and Ramirez would still be on first with one out. Since we are playing Tier 2 - Basic game, we do look at the chart on the first page and see that a Grounder runners advanced. 12nd
28
Ed FigueroaAlbert Pujols (If we had played Tier 3 -Advanced instead of Tier 2)9Batter77Out19If we had instead chosen to play Tier 3 - Advanced game then an "19" says to check for error, but since we did not calculated defense for the Puerto Rican and Dominican Republic teams, we do not have Error ratings on the sheet. However, if you look at the player cards below that can be used instead of sheets, and the chart below on the advanced form to determine where the ball was hit and that players error rating, then you can see how the Advanced game works. In this case, just to see what would have happened, I rolled the two 6-sided dice and the 20-sided die again and it was a 7- which on the error chart below says "SS," so I looked up the Puerto Rican shortstop Carlos Correa fielding average to see that he would have been an E3 if I had calculated them for these players, meaning a roll of 1-3 on the 20-sided die is an error, and a roll of 11-13 would be a 2-base error. However, the 20-sided die actually game up "7" so even in the Tier 3- Advanced game this would have been a ground out for Pujols with Ramirez advancing to second base and the 7 would only have resulted in an error if the fielder chosen by the dice had an E7, E8, E9 or E10.12nd

Ed Figueroa11Robinson Cano10Batter342bDouble, M. Ramirez scores from 2nd which also lowers Figueroa's endurance (SR) two - one for the new runner and one for the run scored - so from 13 to 11 (if he gets to 0 a reliever must pitch)12nd10

36
Ed FigueroaManny Ramirez8Batter111bSingle, H. Ramirez scores and because Guerrero is only average speed (OBR C) he does NOT try to score from second base. Figueroa has now run out of endurance (SR) because his column B shows the runners allowing 1st plus the runs scored totalled more than his 13 starting endurance. Edwin Diaz is chosen to relieve, and starts with 4 because his RR (endurance when a pitcher relieves instead of starting) means he can allow only up to 4 baserunners plus runs before he must be replaced.1Loaded60

43
Juan MarichalOrlando Cepeda5Pitcher83Out20Since we are playing Tier 2- Basic game, the 20 is a flyout to center field and the inning is over. If we were playing Tier 1 then we would not use the 20-sided dice and it would just be an out and we would no care where it was hit. However, in Tier 3 - Advanced games, then anytime a roll of 20 occurs with a man on base it completely changes what the other dice mean based on the yellow shaded area below. Because the 20-sided die is a "20," the "5" (a 1 and a 4 on the two dice) indicates the Centerfielder has a chance to make a great defensive diving catch and there are instructions although the 83 on the random roll on that chart is too high for him to make the catch and therefore you would ingnore and roll roagain for Cepeda's at bat. Other possibilities in a Tier 3- Advanced game can be a chance for the batter to have a clutch extra base hit (if 2-4), chances for other fielders to make great plays (5 to 9) or very unusual plays like rainouts, injuries, ejections or weird baserunning plays.Top of inning over70

Juan MarichalRoberto Clemente8Pitcher86Out2Grounder to 2nd in our Tier 2-Basic game. If we were playing the Tier 3 Advanced game, then this would turn into a double for Clemente even though it was on the pitcher's card. The only two players this would happen for are Clemente or Cepeda because the averages runs scored in the league the years they played were about 0.4 runs per game less than average, so they were hitting in the modern "dead ball" error, and a chart further down tells you if a player from one year where it was hard to get hits is in fact can change an out on his card OR THE PITCHERS CARD to a double on an 86. Some in very dead ball years, get to change additional numbers from outs to doubles, with the runner on first always going only one base. In this game though we annouced we would play Tier 2 rules, not Tier 3, so it is just an out.

Steal option
Because Guerrero is a good base stealer, he tries to steal second base by rolling one 6-sided die. The roll is a 2, and the chart says on a 2 a SP AA, A or B steals, so he takes second base, while David Ortiz stays up to hit2nd

57
Juan Marichal10Mike Lowell9batter211bSingle, Marichal's SR is lowered 1, but he still has 10 left so in no danger of running out of endurance.11st
58
Juan MarichalIvan Rodriguez9batter53Out4Rodriguez top HBP (hit by pitch) is 52, so the 53 is his first out number. The 20-sided die roll of 4 says double play on the chart (3-4-3), however it says OBR A, B or C safe and under Rodriguez name you will see his OBR is C - so even though the 1st baseman throws to short to start a double play, Rodriguez beats the attempted double play and is now on 1st with 2 outs.21st
59
Juan MarichalEddie Rosario4Pitcher56Out2With 2 outs or noone on the 20-sided die does not really matter and you can just record as an out. A 2 would have been a double play on the chart, but since there were already two outs it would just be a grounder to 2nd base who throws to shortstop for the force out.Top of inning over80

Juan MarichalOrlando Cepeda
Steal option
Because Alomar is a great basestealer (SP: A) he tried to steal 2nd base and the die was "4" meaning only an AA (like Cedeno) could have stolen. He stays at 1st. He would have only been out on a "6" but on a 4 or 5 he simply cannot get a jump and stays on base with Orlando Cepeda still batting.01st
65
Juan Marichal8Orlando Cepeda3pitcher221bSingle and Alomar to second base. Because he is a fast baserunner (OBR B) a roll of the 6-sided die is used to let him try to go 1st to 3rd - however the roll is 5 so he can only make it to second. On a roll of 1 or 2 an OBR B takes the extra base, but on a 6 when taking an extra base you roll again and a 1-3 are out but a 4-6 is safe.02nd

67
Juan Marichal6Carlos Correa8pitcher111bSingle, because Alomar is a fast baserunner (OBR: B) he attempts to take the extra base and on a roll of 2 he makes it home However, Cepeda and Correa cannot take an extra base on the throw because they are both OBR: C which only advances on a roll of 1 (or a roll of 4 if 2 outs). Puerto Rico has their first run of Marichal in the 6th and have knocked his SR down to 6.81
68
Juan Marichal2Juan Gonzalez10batter37HRHOME RUN. The 37 is within the Gonzalez' 31-40 home run range and so this 3-run homer brings Puerto Rico to within 8-4 and the three runs plus new runner knocks 4 off Marichal's SR to get him down to 2 in column B.84
69
Juan Marichal0Bernie Williams12batter34HRHOME RUN. The 34 falls within Williams home run range of 33-36 to make it 8-5, and the new runner plus run scored use up Marichal's last 2 SR to give him 0 and require him to leave the game.
