22 | The Austrian Association for Cultural Relations (AACR) is a non-profit organisation which wants to enrich the lives of those eager to learn and improve, above all on a cultural and educational level. It was founded in 2022 after the two founding sisters came back from their ESC volunteering experience abroad, with the vision of bringing about a change in their local environments and spreading the news about the multitude of educational and self-improvement opportunities as well as cultural exchange experiences the EU has to offer. The main goals encompass the preservation of cultural diversity, the promotion of intercultural dialogues and thus creating a sustainable and respectful exchange of knowledge and skills, on a local as well as international level. | |

24 | The present and future activities of our organisation include: - provision of a space for individuals with different backgrounds, cultures and opinions to exchange ideas - dissemination of information regarding Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps, volunteering, going abroad, etc. - supporting and preparing those who want to go abroad and helping integrate those who come to Austria - organising workshops, lectures, conferences, seminars and suchlike encounters on topics like arts and culture, diversity, international relations, geopolitics, human rights, science and research and sustainability - promoting and organising events and festivals serving cultural exchange as well as the conservation of traditions | |

26 | Claudia Almer (*2000), president and project coordinator of AACR, is an experienced membership recruiter and fundraiser and has been working for the Austrian Red Cross for the last three years. Her heart beats for environmental and sustainability topics and she continuously searches for opportunities to get active, having participated in conferences on climate change by the UN, as well as by the Austrian government. She did her long-term ESC volunteering project in Italy working with refugees and migrants and simultaneously volunteered for the Civil Protection. Claudia has co-organised and acted as a facilitator in several Erasmus+ projects about topics like mental health, active citizenship and mindfulness. In general, Claudia enjoys filling her free time with non-formal educational projects, solo-travel and outdoor sports. Michaela Almer (*1999), vice president and cashier of AACR, became active in the volunteering field during her ESC project in Iceland in 2020, during which she actively engaged in the country’s reforestation efforts. Until now she has been working in a tree nursery with disabled people, showing her love for nature and learning how to lead groups in a challenging environment. Michaela is passionate about topics like queer history, gender norms and anything related to being in nature. | |
