This is the most up to date list of public library closures in Massachusetts and any services that are still offered to the public. The list is pulled form libraries reporting directly to the State Aid unit at the MBLC or through our LibWizard form. It will be updated each morning for the foreseeable future. Please update us through the LibWizard link copied below if your services or reopening dates change.

3/16/2020YesArlingtonRobbins LibraryNoFriday, March 13, 2020Two weeks minimum, but it is likely to changeYesPhone and email support * We are promoting other performers' virtual programming as long as it's free.Nohttps://robbinslibrary.wordpress.com/2020/03/16/using-the-library-from-a-distance-during-covid-19/Even libraries that are open with staff shouldn't be doing anything but promoting remote access. Anything more, like curbside delivery, is irresponsible. I urge MBLC to discourage ANY library service that brings people into contact. In this day and age, with rich online resources AND a little-understood public health emergency, how are we still talking about how to get physical materials into the hands of our patrons? Communities who have staff coming in are doing it wrong. They are putting staff and the community at risk.781-316-3201Andrea Nicolayanicolay@minlib.netMLN

Yesauburnlibrary.org(508) 832-7790jean collinsjcollins@town.auburn.ma.usTwo FT union staff; they were terminated (positions were NOT terminated- staff only) They were both only 5 months into their employment. There is insufficient work to keep them on the payroll and that is not expected to change for quite some time. Other FT staff are working in-house 1-2 days per week and working remotely the other 3, PT staff working a combination of hours and balance of in-house and remote. Staff are divided into two teams; teams never overlap, as added precaution against spreading the disease from one group to another. As of now, no one has been sick or exposed (that we know of).CWMARS

3/19/2020 11:00YesAuburnAuburn Public LibraryNo3/11/2020TBD - possibly not until April 11, 2020YesPhone and email support * Virtual programming (Online storytime, Facebook Live, etc.) * We are creating literacy packets that align with our virtual stories and the programs we normally offer in-house, as well as other packet topics. the packets contain 8-10 literacy / coloring sheets, a related craft with all materials, a story printed from the Internet, and sometimes an additional element, such as a plastic dinosaur..

Our Auburn Youth and Family Services has requested 100 packets, for each of the 10-12 we plan to develop. Since they are offering meal pickup, we will partner with them for the literacy packets for that particular population. I am also working out a partnership with the schools, which are also offering meals to children who normally receive meals from school.

We will also be offering them via website registration to Auburn residents (only) for curbside pickup. Delivery will be made (by library staff) only if they do not have a way to pick them up.

Others have been offered the option, but have not expressed interest at this time. If they do, staff members will work alone in the building and be responsible for disinfecting their work areas before leaving the building.several on Facebook (website presently down)The Selectboard has chosen to hold an in-person meeting with department heads this Thursday 3/19. When asked if they had considered holding a meeting via ZOOM instead, the response was No, and they didn't even look into it. It is incredibly frustrating that the group that should be cognizant of Town employees' health wants to put us all in a room together, even though we have all been reporting in via an e-mail thread . I have told them that I plan to attend via telephone. We'll see if they pick up.413-648-5402Karen Stinchfieldcushmanlibrary@gmail.comCWMARS
