East DorsetJoined telecon 17.9.18: plastics survey in local supermarkets which shared with Ted. Looking now at what to do next. Also working with other groups - this Sat will have plastics free street party in Wimborne, and do a lot of coastal work as a coastal group. Survey asked, for e.g. supermarkets whether their cotton buds were plastic or not, whether plastic-wrapped items could be unwrapped. Happy to share and others said they'd welcome that. Angela permits Ted to share it. Don't have a lot of luck with MPs but more success with councils.

Gosport & FarehamThey did a beach clean and created "sea creature" artwork from the plastic. They have some nice photos of this artwork. Here's how they did it. Beware the clearning of the plastic was hard work apparently. http://www.gffoe.co.uk/Greenlight%20plastic%20art.pdf?COLLCC=774941866&They also tried to get a motion on single use plasatics through council last year, unsuccessfully. However this year with the wave of plastic interest local Conservative councillor is putting his own motion forward which the group has publicly supported. They were clearly ahead of the zeitgeist last year! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/district/fareham_and_gosport/16040974.Councillor_calls_for_ban_on_single_use_plastics/17/10/2018 (teleconference) mainly focusing on personal behaviour change, getting individuals to reduce single usage plastics. Are considering whether to support suffers against sewage - plastic free campaign.
