2/11/2022 14:10:03Camp Cody and Kutcher's Sports CampMy older son enjoyed two fun-filled weeks at Camp Cody for three consecutive years before Covid which was the perfect amount of time for him. Not many traditional camps offer short overnight sessions. My younger son was offered a one week overnight experience at Kutcher's and we've registered him for three weeks this summer. He is crazy about sports so it was the perfect fit for him as a specialized camp. Camp Cody is in New Hampshire and Kutcher's is the Berkshires (Massachusetts)https://campcody.com/ and https://www.ksa.camp/5555555Very accommodating of individual kids and supportive/communicative with familiesMS, TH

2/13/2022 16:43:55Camp SloaneCamp Sloane is a co-ed overnight YMCA camp with a lake, pool and the typical camp activities. It is not a super expensive or super fancy camp. The kids stay in tents. They also have horseback riding or waterskiing for an additional fee. We like that it has tiered pricing which allows children from different economic backgrounds to attend. They have Olympics and other competitions at the end of every two week session. Our son has gone for 2 summers. (My husband also went many years ago…!) The kids and counselors are generally nice and friendly. In non-COVID years, they generally have a number of international counselors. 2/16/2022 22:31:24Movement Creative Parkour campMovement Creative’s parkour camp in Central Park was nothing short of amazing. The kids learned and practice how to move their body creatively, got to go to various playgrounds in the park, learned about the park’s history, the flora and fauna in the park and even got to play in the sprinklers and the Ramble! The coaches were very responsible, very Covid safe (kids had to wear masks even when they were outdoors), and they ensured that the kids were hydrated and had adequate sunscreen all day Central Park https://www.themovementcreative.com/N/A555555We love Movement creative and we do their drop in classes occasionally and will definitely do camp with them again this year!JSMindy Tan

3/5/2022 8:58:05Farm and Wildnerness CampsVermonthttps://www.farmandwilderness.org/?hsLang=enN/AN/AN/AN/AN/AN/AN/ARecommended by Dr. King-Calnek - I attended Farm & Wilderness in the 1970s and that's actually where I first heard about UNIS! There were a few UNIS students there at the time. In fact that's where I met Attallah Shabazz. And, Leslie Fields (whom I already knew) was there as well. A lot of children of civil rights activists attended camps there back then. Times have changed, but I still have vivid memories of my 11 year-old Midwestern self quietly hiding my awe when I asked my new friend where she was from and she boasted, "I go to the United Nations International School in New York!" #unisstrong

1/16/2023 11:07:00YMCA Camp AbnakiOne of the oldest YMCA camps in the US with beautiful grounds right on Lake Champlain in North Hero, VT. It's an all boys camp with great programs especially in swimming, canoeing, sailing... It's also a little cheaper than other YMCA camps and because it's further away from NYC than some of the camps in CT, MA and NY, we find that the kids are a little more mixed in terms of backgrounds (mix of urban and rural families...). I went there as a child over 40 years ago and our son has done a two week program for the last two summers and can't wait to go back this summer.North Hero VThttps://campabnaki.org/5553555THTim Capron - timcapron@yahoo.com5

Starting in March, they usually have the camp schedule posted and offer early bird discounts if you sign up for multiple camps. Scott, the director, is very responsive and enthusiastic. My daughter loved all her counselors here. Great place for girls who love STEM.

My daughter came home with projects every day and even learned to code in Python last summer. They make science and coding fun. The children pre-COVID also went to the Museum of Natural History at no extra charge. They do get to play outside during this day camp. There is an option to pay extra for an extended day - very helpful as a working parent.

You can put your name on the wait list for this summer. Request an application for next summer after Labor Day weekend. You find out in December if your child has a spot through the lottery. We got off the waiting list. You get right of first refusal for a spot the next year after your first summer at this camp. Siblings of current campers also have preference.

The camp takes place in the Suffolk County College Campus with plenty of outdoor space and a large sized pool.
