TimestampNameOrgI had fun playing Sparkball
I look forward to playing Sparkball next weekend for EA
Sparkball is a game I want to invite my friends to play with me
I see esports potential in Sparkball
I would watch Sparkball being played in a tournament
Sparkball felt unique in comparison to other similar games (LoL, Omega Strikers, HotS, Rocket League, etc)
I would play Sparkball on Stream (or just in general) friends once it's in Beta/Release
I enjoyed the hero design in Sparkball
Sparkball was relatively easy to pickup and learn
I enjoy the theme/tone of the world of Sparkadia
What is the one thing you would add to improve Sparkball at this stage?
Is there any other feedback you'd like to leave us? Whether that's game design or in general?
Anything you'd like to see specifically on the esports side for the next tournament?

the impact of the first 60s of the fight//team wide buff when scoring a goal just creates alot of momentum that the losing team cannot come back from. the losing side has nowhere to run back to, no safe zone, heals can get cancelled etc, needs to be a framework to allow a comeback but not necessarily hand the team one

This discussion is pretty large right now, but making the Goalie active but invulnerable when the tower is active. Being constantly pressured it incredibly painful. Granted the teams that had high pressure have had loads of more experience, from just an average gameplay standpoint it feels pretty bad.
Not really! Right now it's just small tweaks and changes that you guys already seem to be on top of. I'm honored to be a part of this community and to have been given the opportunity to sub for the tournament.
The stream was slightly glitchy at times and seems to be something worth improving... Although the Bloom VC thing was pretty funny. Honestly... It's a huge stretch but a LAN would be wild. This event felt awesome not only to be a part of but also to watch. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of hype an in person tournament would generate, especially after seeing the hype and gameplay turn out today.

Slow down snowball. Enhance comeback potential.
Community 1st. We (IMX ecosystem) are striving to democratize the gaming scene, "stopping Riot's greedy ass and Blizzard's dumb decision making". To accomplish this is necessary to support each other and not give the whole pie to already stablished & popular esports orgs.
Inclusion, more opportunity for players not affiliated with orgs that have 1M+ followers.

Game pace is too fast. That is especially true for casual players, but even at the esports level, there isn't enough of an emphasis on the macro game for comebacks to be made. Whether it's shutdown gold, increased gold from crates when behind, healing station adjustments, turret/ball adjustments, or a mixture of them all, the game definitely needs to be slowed down a bit (again pacing wise, not amount of time wise). Happy to discuss further if devs ever wanna reach out on Discord.
If the game is meant to be competitive, the in
Ideally, a final tourney patch would be made AT LEAST a week before the tourney happens. Really hard to get good practice in when the balance is shifting so frequently basically leading up to right before the tourney.

With comms like in the tournament I feel like one team can be super oppressive against the other just because there isn't much defensive capability to stop or contest them other than doing the same kind of damage to them. It'll come in due time but i think there needs to be more tank oriented champs to soak things up and better healing capabilities on healers like jan

Having some sort of safe zone behind your tower in the way that you don't get completely run over once you lose control. Many ways to try and achieve that. Off the top of my head: goalie on the ground from the start (invulnerable till tower down), add extra pockets on the sides to at least recall safely or maybe jump pads to your base idk honestly. Or a buffed zone with extra hp regen and damage , maybe vending machines in the back grant you an extra shield. Just anything to not feel completely overwhelmed by enemy pressure.
Maybe some items could be active items like the Zhonyas
a win for my team :^) ... or some more EU teams so actually scrimming is possible :p

I would like to see more statistics from the games. Such as how long did each team control the Cannon for, amount of ult powerups each team picked up, etc.
14
6/24/2023 16:36:23FlappyPenguinFNC5555455444
More characters, more items, more polish on a few abilties like inksy ult.
There are infinite decisions to make. I think the game is in a great direction. Skill expressive, dodging is very important and most abilities give more than enough opportunity to juke. Good objectives, fighting over tower both to get ball into it and to damage crystals is very fun and complex as to what the correct decision is. Goalie/Scoring is also very difficult but very rewarding. The pace is very fast and also very slow depending on skill level which I think shows just how much room there is for players to play their own game. Do your best!
I think splitting the prizepool by game wins might incentivize people to try harder in the later group stage. 75 per loss

Less analysis, more reactions to hype plays in casting. Analysis was very insightful for new players (and devs), but I would have appreciated more dips and spikes in the energy of the casting.

probably more details about how the game goes, to feel more "natural". sometimes I felt kinda lost when playing OT
Adding more characters/items and trying to make them unique for the game, not getting ideas on LOL for example, some characters feel like I'm playing LOL and I dont enjoy that much since I've played the game for 10+ years.
You have the opportunity to bring the best of League and the best of Rocket League!!! I'm hyped for the future
More tournaments, so people can feel the game. It's really easy to learn and the casting today was amazing.
Can't wait to play the next tournament/early access

As I see it, Sparkball has a strong foundation. I think the combat is generally fun and the macro is simple to understand yet has an interesting depth. To improve on this I would immediately revisit the parts of combat that feel oppressive in coordinated play. I think the game has too much aoe cc at the current state. The aoe CC is not that easy to land, but once you get a cc chain started it can be VERY easy to sustain it until someone dies. I think revisiting the number of AOE ccs in the game and replacing some with single target skill shot options would be best. ALTERNATIVELY: Add in cleanse skills that allow teammates to skillfully interrupt cc chains on their allies. The other part of combat that feels very bad is item scaling. When you get three items the nature of combat changes and m1s are normally enough to kill someone. This goes for both sides of the fight, as it feels less skillful to be on either side of any interaction at three items (even when items are equal. Combat feels good and skillful. I think any changes should be aimed at increasing the depth of combat while maintaining the ability to avoid damage through skillful movement. Macro needs work. I do not want this to be taken as a negative statement. The tower/goal interaction is a VAST improvement on the core gameplay and works well while being fun to play. I think this has been the largest change the game has seen since I first played a game of circuits and shields and I like it quite a bit. The ball movement feels impactful to combat and combat feels impactful to scoring. This is a very good relationship. The main problems with macro right now involve the concept of “tempo” and “pressure”. The MOST IMPORTANT moment of a round of sparkball right now is the first possession. Whichever team can control first possession of the ball (defined as holding the ball for 10s~ and being able to cleanly pass between allies) generally holds tempo and pressure for the round and the game becomes difficult to play for the team that does not control first possession. This can be accomplished by controlling the map’s resources and building up a lead that your opponents cannot easily equalize, even when gaining control of the ball from a failed shot attempt or stolen pass. This is because the team that controls first possession is able to gain control of mid
Good combat feel, strong start. One big thing that makes battlerite

Items should have build paths instead of needing all the gold for the complete item.

Hard to say, felt rather fleshed out
The largest issue I think the game currently possess is items and their upgraded states feel too expensive compared to the current gold generation. Games just don't last long enough to really experience what it's like.
Tournament organization was quick and smooth, hard to say. Felt great.

I'd love to select skins, but I understand that's actively being worked on, so I'm excited to see it!
I've played every MOBA out there, and so many of them try to be super serious, to the point it's really unapproachable. Sparkball is easy to play, and challenging to master, that's why I love it already! I don't feel like I have to be an expert just to have fun, which is a breath of fresh air to be honest.
I'd like to see more team decals on the field. I loved the flags flying over the play area! Maybe some more cutscenes featuring the players or something.

It just doesnt feel like there is any feedback for dealing damage or taking damage. Also buying and upgrading items didnt make me feel like i get an actual advantage.
A lot of small bugs, of course are to expect, so i think once thats figured out i think it'd be great. Porting game to mobile would be great too i think

6/26/2023 15:10:33FaladrixMethod5555555555
It's very easy to snowball in sparkball atm. If you get an early kill and its hard to stall if u dont have the ball, especially if the enemy manage to kill tower quick, you're kinda just a target dummy if youre 3v4. We spoke a lot about the need of being able to safely portal back or somethijng like that... hmm. Additionally, eventually with more champions, more setups and more creativity can be made for sure
We have spoken about alot of ideas and stuff, which i at this moment of the survey, cant remember. But i will defo ping when stuff comes to mind. Game is really nice and enjoyable to play.
I think the tournament we've played just now was really well made, so i dont really have any complains about it

Base proximity limits for item buying for ascension weekend!
The game felt really good in the tournament, I think the disparity in practice time was the main reason for any lopsided games. I would love to see a tournament with teams that all have a decent window to practice! There were a few misplays from me that I feel were impactful towards our loss and despite fnc's long time team synergy, with a bit of better play we may have been able to take a game or two. Which is a pretty good feeling.
Real time "replay" systems are really great for people who can't follow the action necessarily well or are learning, and it might help pick apart individual fights or plays going back to them during some downtime.

Chat function inlobby and ingame. Needs improved highlighting skill expression (post score/MVP etc) & BM potential (Sprays). Community is most important
Casters need a main message. Community loves heroes/villains they can relate to, so working towards community/storylines for community (need to map this out). I agree with bringing in big names to play the game for initial traction, but Sparkball will need their own attractive personas/storylines to be the face of the game in order to continue the playerbase. THE GAME IS GOOD, but any Esports that doesn't have that dies immediately after the big streamers who are paid to be there stop playing. Working with these storylines, social media short videos Tiktok/Youtube with streaming is IMO the best approach for this game. Starting with Tutorials and moving on to playful banter/skill expression. See 100HP gaming in Valorant and heroes like Tenz. I think consistent small community events and dev interaction is crucial to this. Need more player interviews/community interactions, highlighting individuals.
I think free agents were a bad idea, any team that had free agents (Gurzy, FNC, Nawie, etc) instantly had an insanely strong advantage. Gameplay, game stats, and impact (2

Night version of map/map variations.
It would be cool if something about the crates/start of the match felt a bit different or if there wasn't always a cannon to capture but maybe something else as well.

More characters/more items.

Cancel key for certain abilities such as Counters/Channeled abilities or allowing to Cancel it by pressing the same key similar to Hamon Q

Ball should have more VFX on it i feel, or when people catch it maybe. just more eye candy with throwing/passing

Glacial frost item is only cheap item in the game which feels strange.

Enchanter or backline support type character similar to lulu/soraka/poloma/lucie for a good difference of Gus and this character. Feels weird having Gus be the only healer, this is just my opinion though i like healers and healing.

using WASD should not cancel mount cast, Z already cancels it.
More of an incentive to win games and not just enter to get the free $500 without having to practice even in the slightest. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, it could have just been pure laziness and lack of care, but a lot of teams barely played and perhaps a different form that actually makes losing more harmful would be better. I understand that might make it harder to pull people in.

if it isnt time for esports dont rush it obviously, id really like to see Sparkball actually have a future and dont want it to be one of those games where they have a few tournaments and disappear off the face of the planet.

Being able to choose different controls more freely, a more traditional MOBA system instead of WASD and rightclick for spells, I think it would help casuals coming in from other MOBAs a lot
Maybe find ways for a bit more individual impact/skill expression? Players love to have that GOD mode moment every once in a while. Also, EU server hehe. I really think you guys should focus a bit more on EU as well!
Split tournaments into two pools maybe and cut the prize pool in half? EU and NA. More content for less $$

Not necessarily for the next tournament, but I think college esports is an untouched market with great potential. If esports want to rival sports broadcasting in the mainstream, they're gonna have to establish themselves in the college scene. Heroes of the Dorm, the college/uni HotS championship, really had something going for itself. It was an entryway to the pro league, just like it would be for traditionnal sports.

I am a nerd who enjoy game lore so understanding how the characters tie back into the world keeps me more engaged when i'm playing. Also helps the character design not feel so random and encourages me to branch out and try new champs. I would also add bots to the playground as it feels almost worthless without them.
I am not a game design expert nor will I pretend to be. The game is more complicated than it looks and will probably have a steep learning curve for players who queue up solo since so much of it relies on team play and tempo. I can see how new players could get easily discouraged and then never return to the game. Hopefully match making has some sort of elo system one day. Also it would be so cool to develop different maps with different terrain to keep things more interesting. Also, could help contribute to the game's lore. At some point could even do a pick/ban for maps to add that extra level of competitiveness.
None from me personally although I was told from people who watched the sparkadia stream that they didnt understand how builds and items work so maybe calling some extra attention there would be good for the next stream. Overall, this was a super fun tournament and I would definitely play again and encourage other people to play!

6/27/2023 15:14:55LassizSSG5553344444
I suppose a more in depth tutorial, so new players have an easier understanding of how the map works.
The snowballing was a bit of an issue, and the team that gets ahead tends to get even further ahead, so the comebacks seems extremely difficult, from my experience.
I am not the biggest spectator, so I'm a bit indifferent.
