Please urge your representatives to oppose these efforts on HB 122 and support HB 220, a Compromise Measure to Maintain a Georgia Plug-in Tax Credit. As this is becoming a revenue issue, you should tell the story of how much they paid in ad valorem taxes that went to the county and state when they purchased/leased your vehicle.

Support House Bill 220(introduced by Rep. Harbin), a compromise solution, which modifies the electric vehicle tax credit
5
· HB220 is supported by a coalition of automakers, utilities, businesses and environmental advocates
6
· This compromise legislation reduces the maximum credit from $5,000 to $3,000 beginning on July 1, 2015.
7
· The legislation addresses concerns about ongoing revenue costs to state by establishing budget cap and a sunset date
8
· This bill will also allow plug-in vehicles like the Chevy Volt and Ford C-Max to claim a credit and no longer just include pure electric vehicles.
9
10
Why EVs are good for the state
11
· The growth in the EV market has been a positive for Georgia and helped meet environmental and economic goals
12
· Georgia must maintain its positive momentum and Members should oppose HB 122 introduced by Rep. Chuck Martin which would end the EV credit completely on July 1, 2015.
13
14
Killing EV Tax credit would be a tax increase on Georgia taxpayers and will not generate the $45MM that lawmakers are claiming
15
· It is important to note from a revenue perspective that the state is receiving significant ad valorem taxes for every EV sale, and particularly leases.
16
· A single sale can generate anywhere from $1500 to $5,000 in revenue for the county and state.
17
· Purchasers of these vehicles are often not able to claim full credit in first year or even during 3 year carryover period.
