Hello 2023 CMs!!! We are so excited to welcome you as you enter into TFA NY and support you along the way!

All corps members are required to hold a New York State teaching certificate in order to be hired by schools here in New York City. The certificates are issued by the New York State, and certify that an individual has met required degree, coursework, exams, and experience requirements. Certification ensures that all teachers providing instruction to students have the necessary knowledge and skills to teach. All corps members must work to have their Transitional-B license issued, if they are not already certified to teach in NY State.

We know that these exams can feel overwheming and can be hard! When I was a CM in 2019, I worked with peers to study and develop key conceptual understandings to ensure we all passed our exams, but also to create commroderie and community. We wanted to create a space for you all to do so here.

In this spreadsheet, there are tabs for each exam you may be requoerd to take. Each exam you are requored to take is specific to your hiring path/certification area- if you are usure of this, please check your inbox for emails from newyorkregion@teachforamerica.org, where you will find your certification area and required exams.

In each tab you will see a section for resources, which I have pre-entered resources for your usage (there are also more on your CM Hub, linked here.

HOW TO USE THIS RESOURCE:

1. Select tab of the exam you would like to study for.

2. Enter your name and email for zoom and contact purposes.

3. Reach out to your group through email or slack to schedule time and logistics (if you need support doing so, please email me at newyorkregion@teachforamerica.org.

4. Review resources, prepare for studying.

5. Get studying! Create relationships and community and get prepared for your exams!
