| What is "Beo"? | |||||||||||||||||
| An in-depth explination of Beowulf and all it's features / skills / abilities
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Beowulf (commonly refered to as "Beo") is the base T10 class of the "Valhallan" classline. This classline is extremely versatile and unique in the fact that it can be played in multiple different ways, with the abilty to wear/utilize any type of gear. Base beowulf also has the unique passive of being fully immune to dragon type damage.
| There are 2 main ways to play Beo, the most common (and considered the most optimal) being "Pet Focused", utilzing pets such as "Fey Cactus" and "Arisen Spiritgarm" on Beo/BeoA to do damage while you defend and apply buffs to yourself. The second being "Hybrid Focused", utilizing hybrid monster from Beo/BeoH (mainly BeoH) with natural hybrid skills such as "Verse" and "Beaststrikes" or using an "All skills and spells cast will use both your Attack and Magic stats" amity, making all your attacks hybrid.
| Note: The terms "Pet" and "Follower" are used interchangeably throughout this guide.

| ||||||||||||||||||
| What Buffs Your Pet? | |||||||||||||||||
| The main way you'll be buffing your pet is actually by buffing yourself! All In-battle buffs will affect your pet:
| (T)Att+/-, (T)Mag+/-, (T)Dex+, (T)crit+, bloodshift, all elemental affinity's, and all of Gait's increases/decreses.
| As well as stat changes due to status effects. For example "Burning" giving -20% to your attack and magic.
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Amities Affecting Pet Damage
| Amity Bonuses that do influence pets [Max bonus] | Amity Bonuses that do not influence pet damage
| Follower Stats (obviously) [+15%] | Crit damage +-x%
| Follower Protect Chance [+7%] | If enemy is resistant => -x% dmg instead of -50%
| Follower Act Chance [+7%] | Exploiting elemental weakness = +-x% dmg
| Any Basic Element [+20%] | All skills hybrid / Use both magic and attack
| Any Secondary Element [+30%] | Simple Attacks do +-x% damage
| More dmg while at full HP [+15%] | ---
| Faction dmg [+25%] | ---
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Beo Primary Mechanic: Redlining
| Redlining is a major gameplay mechanic that involves keeping yourself as close to 1 HP as possible to maximize the "Valhallan Dissonace" passive. You and your pet will begin gaining --% to all stats begining at half HP.
| Ward Absorption is one of if not the most important things for redlining. You'll be mainly relying on the skill Divine Bastion (from Atlas/Athena Vanguard) in the begining to grant 100% ward absorption. That means that your ward essentially becomes your HP bar while your real HP bar can sit down at 1 granting yourself +50%, and your pet 110% all stats.
| Accessing and Maintaining Redline:
| The main/optimal way to access your redline will be using skills such as "Double Edge" (-10% max hp) and "Quad Edge" (-40% max hp). (Note: These can kill you if used at <10% / <40% HP respectivley.) If you have a uneven number for your Max HP using quad edge and double edge twice will leave you at exactly 1HP
| Status effects will be your biggest concern when attmpting to maintain your redline, as although with 100% absorbtion your ward will block all incoming damage, it will not prevent status effect damage as it is applied directly to your HP. The two main ways to avoid status effects will be utilizing gear with "Status Protection" / "Status Immuinty". With status protection only providing a chance to not be affected by a status effect it's highly recommend to opt for status immunity from gear such as "Ymir Vritra Charm" and "Briny Pendent".
| (visit "Gear Sheet" for more advanced info on when to use what gear) just not rn as it hasn't been made yet... :)
| Avoiding "DoT" Damage:
| If you have a status effect or a damage-over-time (DoT) effect like Berserk, and performing an action would cause you to die, one common strategy is to use healing items like the "Small Mana Potion." Using an item prevents damage from status effects, allowing you to maintain buffs like Berserk while staying at 1 HP.
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Hybrid Focused | |||||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||
| There are 4 different types of "Hybrid"
| "Natural Hybrid" | Even though hybrid attacks use both attack and magic, they do not get amplified by both att+ and mag+ buffs in battle. Whether it's buffed by attack or magic depends on if it is considered a "Skill" or "Spell", which can be determined when selecting it.
| "All skills/spells are hybrid amity"
| "Dynamic Hybrid" | |||||||||||||||||
| "Hybrid Damage +%". | Skills amplified by "att" buffs | Spells amplified by "mag" buffs
| - big thanks to Knight411 for the number testing and formula confirmations in this section <3
| ||||||||||||||||||
| How "Natural Hybrid" skills work
| Some skills/spells are "hybrid" by default meaning they will use a combination of your attack/magic and will use your opponents defense and resistance when calculating the skills damage. 65% of your attack and 65% of your magic, written as the formula, (Attack * 0.65) + (Magic * 0.65)
| These skills include: | Beaststrike(s) I -> IV | Lusus Naturae I -> IV | Verse I -> IV
| Swansong | --- | --- | |||||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||||||||
| "All skills/spells are hybrid" Amity
| (Quick note: using any of the 4 types skills/spells above with this amity has no effect)
| You can make any and every attack you use "Hybrid" by equipping a "All Skills and Spells cast will use both your Attack and Magic stats" amity. Hybrid Damage is calculated using the formula (Attack + Magic) / 1.65. Or, to put it simply, if your attack and magic stats are equal, making a skill hybrid will increase its damage by ~21%. (Adv. The ~21% dmg increase done is pre in-battle buffs/calculations of M1 and M2)
| This amity also causes all your attacks to use an average of your enemies defense and resistance.
| ||||||||||||||||||
| How "Dynamic Hybrid" skills work
| These type of skills utilize either your attack or magic stat depending on which one is higher. This style of hybrid also follows the same "average of your enemies defense / resistance" in the same way the "All skills hybrid" amity does above.
| These skills include: | Arcana I -> III | Arcanus | Annwn Fury
| Aglostrike | Sands of Aaru | "Eventualus" Apex Skills
| ||||||||||||||||||
| How "+% Hybrid Damage" works
| Technically, "Hybrid Damage" isn’t a distinct type. Instead, it is an increases your attack by --% of your magic and your magic by --% of your attack. There are only four ways to boost "Hybrid Damage" in the game, and these percentages stack additively.
| All "Hybrid Damage" Boosts: | Hybrid Monster I -> III | "+ Hybrid Damage" amity | Hands of Selene
| Arms of Selene | Certain "Bestial Bonds" | Azure Dioscuri Ring
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Beowulf Classline Abilities
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Valhallan Dissonance
| Valhalla Power +110% | Low HP stats +50% | Follower: Stats +110% / Act +12%
| This ability is what allows you to "redline" (explained in detail above). As you approach 1 HP gaining 0 -> 50% all stats "Valhalla Power" is also in effect. This is your pets redline, providing them 0 -> 110% all stats at the same time.
| (Note: There is no visual indicator for "Valhalla Power")
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Valhallan Protection
| Follower Protect +12%
| No matter what follower you have equipped thanks to this ability there is always a 12% chance each turn that it will completly protect you from an attack. This stacks with a followers innate protect chance, as well as call of jord.
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Valhallan Training | |||||||||||||||||
| Follower / Summon AI +5%
| Follower AI helps your pet choose better skills/spells based on the situation (This is currently quite buggy, will add a better description eventually).
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Bestial Bonds | |||||||||||||||||
| Bestial Bonds (BB) is a (semi-)exclusive ability to the valhallan classline (the sole exception being the ★8 and ★9 "god classes" and amity's that grant BB1) that can do various things from giving you and your follower stat boosts, extra orns/gold, and even bonus rewards from memory hunting. Each follower has 3 seperate levels of bestial bond, how many you have access to depends on.
| (Note: the bestial bond bonus only effects the numbers within brackets in a followers codex entry under "bestial bond")
| Bestial Bond I: ★3 -> ★5 | Bestial Bond II: ★6 -> ★9 | Bestial Bond III: ★10
| For an overall view of the different bestial bonds for each follower check out "Ornapedia's pet sheet"
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Ascension Synergy | |||||||||||||||||
| For every ascension level (AL) you have your follower will also get the "+1% to all stats per level"
| ||||||||||||||||||
| Hybrid Monster | |||||||||||||||||
| Based on your level of "Hybrid Monster" your attack stat will increase by a % of your magic stat, and your magic stat will increase by a % of your attack stat. These values depend on the level of hybrid monster you have (Shown in italics below).
| Hybrid Monster I: 20% | Hybrid Monster II: 25% | Hybrid Monster III: 40%
| ||||||||||||||||||
| What are "Call" / "Ballad" Spells?
| Call spell's ("Ballad" is just the lower tier of "Call") provide a in-battle permanent buff that will increase/decrease the act rate of your pet in regards to preforming a certain action. action based off which is used/active. The percentage chance of your follower preforming said action is based on the level of call used.
| You can only have one call active at a time. Using a different call than one that is currently active will replace it, using the same call skill as what is currently active will cause you to lose it (better described as "turn it off").
| These are spells that are only effective when used by valhallan classes, with only a --% chance to to work on non-valhallan classes, --% chance when used by Base Beowulf, 100% chance when used by BeoA, and a --% chance when used by BeoH. (%'s to be added at a later date) |
