From The Timbers Recreation parking lot, follow the trail to the left for approximately 1/4 mi. to the bottom of the hill. At the picnic tables, take the two-track to the left for about 1/8 mi. and turn right off the trail, through the ferns, and into the trees. The vernal pool is located in a triangular region in the center of the woods.

We have visited this pool for the past three years. We have identified wood frogs in the past; however we have not found any this year. We also have not found any other indicator species. The pool has also not completely dried up since we have begun monitoring.

go around the barrier walk down the path and take a left turn keep walking and you will see a barn (if you do not see the barn you took a wrong turn)
when you see the barn take ANOTHER left continue walking and you will see the vernal pool on your left ( if you do NOT see the vernal pool you probably took a wrong turn (AGAIN))

We have heard spring peepers, western chorus frogs and wood frogs at this time - April 6, 2020. Later in the season (last year), we also heard green frogs.

At the end of the summer last year, the vernal pond filled with sedge and we could walk through to the other side.
