WHAT THIS IS
9
A free tool for quickly roughing out the electrical material budget for a solar project — before committing to a full detailed takeoff.
10
This is a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) planning tool, not a substitute for a line-item quantity takeoff. Use it for early go/no-go budgeting, not for bidding or procurement.
11
12
HOW TO USE THIS TOOL
13
1. Open the 'Quick Budget Estimator' tab.
14
2. Enter your own estimated quantities per category from a rough drawing review or site walk.
15
3. Enter your own unit costs. Costs vary by region, supplier, and project scale, so this tool intentionally doesn't assume any for you — use your own current numbers.
16
4. The Est. Category Cost column and the total at the bottom calculate automatically.
17
5. Skim the 'NEC Quick-Reference' tab — a few code call-outs worth checking early, before they turn into a change order.

WANT A FULL DETAILED TAKEOFF?
20
These are the same categories used in a full Daigeau Consulting takeoff — so if this turns into a real project, there's no format to switch.
21
This tool gets you a rough number in a few minutes. For a bid-ready, line-item quantity takeoff — full BOM, broken out by drawing sheet, with assumptions and exclusions documented — that's the actual service.
22
Sample deliverables (a 129.15 kW commercial roof mounted package spanning 3 buildings) available on request.
