Making cards monthly for each holiday to deliver to local nursing homes.

HRBT bus stop on Chestnut. We have submitted the application and waiting to hear back. Our students will be in charge of making sure it stays clean. HRBT will provide us with supplies. We will walk over and clean it twice a month. A trashcan with DSA SCA will be placed by the bus stop.

Students have been collecting and weighing the school recycling, but have noticed that people are putting things in the recycle bin that cannot be recycled.Students helped me create emails to staff to let them know what could be recycled.

Staff and students are still putting things in the bins that do not belong. Students decided to create videos to put on the morning show to help explain what can be recycled.

Creating Thanksgiving cards for rehabilitation center.

Beginning our relationship with them to work on going over and singing Christmas songs at the holidays and bringing new cards and hand made crafts.

I am willing to help any grade level with their project in icare, as I do not have the availability to do this.

The students wanted to help the homeless stay warm. Each student was asked to donate a pair of socks. The students also wanted to feed families that are in need for Thanksgiving. Each student was asked to donate a canned food item.

Helping to prepare the Thanksgiving Baskets that will be given to 6 DSA families that are in need.
The Women Shelter is coming to pick up thee socks and our students will take a picture with them.

The children made Thanksgiving cards and drew fall pictures for Riverside Rehab Center on Chesapeake Ave.

Our next step will be to make small crafts to give to the same rehab for Christmas.

We are selling cookies to raise money for 1st grade field trips and activities.

We'll continue selling until we sell out and count our money & reflect.

I am contributing items to different grade levels to help with their specific projects.

I plan to continue to give back to the community to different groups with a percentage of the profit that is made from the sales I make this month with my business.

As the first grade we are working on recycling. We are working together with the school to recycle various materials. Our grade level has focused on making sure that we know what is appropriate to recycle and what is not.

We are going to discuss why it is important to recycle and why it is important to involve other in our efforts to recycle.

The Kindersmarties are working with the Convalescent Homes to provide cards, visits and small items they may need to bring encouragement and hope to the resident's.

Right now we are still making the bricks. It is taking longer than I thought it would to make them. Next steps are trying to tie them together to form a pot.

We want to make our community beautiful by cleaning up litter and planting flowers and trees.

We will come up with a way to raise money for plants and pick up litter on campus.

My students have been inspired by our field trip to Colonial Williamsburg and the printing press. We are going to use rubber stamps and make cards for the Veterans at the VA Hospital.

We will be planning the messages during our writing block, make cards with rubber stamps and purchase the cards and envelopes.

In our kindergarten class, the children have decided to help brighten the holiday season for the people at the Riverside Hospital Rehabilitation Center with Holiday Greeting Cards.

We plan to deliver the cards personally and go caroling through the halls.

Assists in hurricane damage donations to school in Houston

The students will implement a grade level peer mentoring program to represent the three branches of government.

As we enter Unit 3 in history the students will learn about the three branches of government and will be led to implement a program that resembles the three branches of government. They have already created class constitutions which will serve as the legislative branch. They will implement the judicial branch which will be peer mediators to help when students have incidents that go against the class constitutions.

My class has decided to go strawless. We are in the process of making signs and video skits to convince 2nd grade to go strawless with our "No slurping" campaign. My goal is by the end of the week to have 2nd grade on board and then use 2nd grade to help the school go on board.

2nd grade first, then using them to help with the school. Once we are ready to make it school wide, I'd like my kids to record a video to be played on the morning show.

We are in the process of making, writing and decorating Valentine card's for our Nursing Home seniors.

They will be hand delivered by students and teachers on the Kindergarten CLZ close to or on Valentine's day.

SCA has filled out all the information with public transit system to adopt a bus stop near our school that we will maintain.

We are just waiting for it to be processed and a sign to be posted and then we will be allowed to start. This takes about 3 months, and we submitted it about 2 months ago.

I am here to help those around me. Since I am a SPED teacher and do not have to complete this.

I am teaching the kids how to separate recycling and where it goes. Also, I am teaching them why it is important to recycle (reusing items to make stuff).

First grade students collect recycling from the whole school. They made a video telling the school what could be recycled. They go through classroom bins to check for items that are non-recycling. We weigh the bins and record how much we recycle each week.

Our students are to help with school wide recycling each Friday. The month of February, my class was in charge of sorting, weighing and taking materials to the Custodian hallway.

The goal is to train the kindergarten students in the Spring for next school year.

Completed. The deployed member wrote a letter to the class thanking them for the cards. Some of the students are writing her a letter.

We have been making seasonal get well cards for the Riverside Rehab center. We were able to visit at Christmas and the kids were able to deliver them personally.

The Rehab center loves what we are doing so we will continue to make cards to cheer up the patients.

My grade level has an on going relationship with a rehab center near our school. This centers serves mostly senior citizens. We have made cards and visited them . On our visit at Christmas our students sang songs and passed out cards . We plan to visit and make cards and /or banners for Easter and perhaps Mother's Day

The kindergarten grade level has an ongoing relationship with Riverside Rehab. Center. We design and create projects (such as cards, wreaths, etc.), visit and sing songs to perhaps brighten up the patients stay and hopefully assist in a speedily recovery.

As a class we decided we wanted to pick up litter and plant flowers to make sure our outside areas are clean and beautiful.

We will vote as a class on what kids of things we would like to do as far as planting. We will also pick a time to clean up around the school.

Some fourth graders came together to create an inspirational banner to send to students in Florida as they return to school after experiencing a tragedy.

We are the final stages of sending the banner to Florida!!

Raise money to send animals to third world countries

I am trying to tie in the project with our unit on plants and animals so students understand the importance of having food at their disposal compared to kids in third world countries.

Sending cards to Veterens at the Veterans Hospital

I have sent a email to get further information on how to get them to those needed. This is the second email, first contact person has left position so just waiting for reply.

We have recently formed our House of Burgesses and the students have worked with Ms. Braxton to come up with some grade level incentives they would like to implement to help with behaviors in the fourth grade.

The next steps would be to lead the students to the idea of peer mediation.

Students in Ms. Braxton's class collected canned goods and school supplies to send to a school in Texas affected by/Hurricane Harvey in October of 2017. They did research and found an elementary school to send supplies to and we mailed the items off in November 2017. I also contacted the Food Bank and they picked up the canned goods.

I have not followed up with the schools but I will make a conscious effort to email/ call the schools to ensure they received the items. I also have to contact the NNPS Mailroom and speak to the supervisor about the packages that were mailed off.

To be in charge of sorting and monitoring school wide recycling each Friday. The goal is to mentor Kindergarten students so that they can be in charge of recycling next year.

Deciding how to use recycled items to construct an indoor garden. This garden will then be transplanted to the DSA garden, for the community to use the produce.

Next week we will visit the site and see what we have to do.

Students have given up straws in an effort to cut down on the amount of plastic in the ocean. They want to save the ocean life .

There really is no next step. They have been challenged to limit their use of throw away plastic, bring that knowledge to others, and think before they use plastic.

We have been working on cards all year to distribute on special occasions to the rehab center.

Now we will start reflecting on why we did it and how we made our community better from our acts of kindness. We will do one more round of cards at the end of the year for certain teachers at DSA.

The students researched the negative effect of plastic on the oceans. They studied the ocean's ecosystem and will be collecting plastic to help keep it out of landfills and waterways. They they stuffed plastic bottles "EcoBricks" to reuse the plastic in a usable way.

Students are continuing to stuff the bottles during club time to be able to complete the ecobricks.

I started a No-Bake Club to teach the kids how to create healthy snacks and meals without having to use the stove. And little or no use of the microwave.

I currently only work with 3rd grade but hope to add another grade level next year.

Helping the bees. Create a bee garden so that the bees will have a place to stop and refresh on their long days journey and hopefully pollinate our garden as well.

We are researching plants to put in our garden and will construct it in the next few weeks.

Our grade level project was to write cards to various community workers. We make cards for the Coast Guards during the Government shutdown to show our appreciation for their service.

As a grade level, we have decided to not use straws to cut down on our use of single use plastics.

Next, we are going to be reflecting on why not using straws makes an impact on our lives as well as those around us.

Our grade level does not use straws. The children has researched the effects of these in the wild and how they are recycled.

we started getting the garden ready in the beginning of the year with the ICARE club starting Vermiculture bins, and now since the can structure is complete, we can focus on watering and maintenance for the garden.

Students created cards and cookies for first responders at Christmas time since they would be away from their families over the holiday to help keep our community safe.

The students were creating scarves to give to the homeless.

We are still teaching the students how to create the scarves. We miscalculated the amount of time it would take the students how to learn to crochet. Unfortunately the students were not able to pick up the skill in order to master it enough to create scarves. We may try this club again next year and take less students so we can have more one on one practice time to actually teach the students how to crochet.
