Students have been collecting and weighing the school recycling, but have noticed that people are putting things in the recycle bin that cannot be recycled.Students helped me create emails to staff to let them know what could be recycled.
Staff and students are still putting things in the bins that do not belong. Students decided to create videos to put on the morning show to help explain what can be recycled.

The Women Shelter is coming to pick up thee socks and our students will take a picture with them.

As we enter Unit 3 in history the students will learn about the three branches of government and will be led to implement a program that resembles the three branches of government. They have already created class constitutions which will serve as the legislative branch. They will implement the judicial branch which will be peer mediators to help when students have incidents that go against the class constitutions.

We have recently formed our House of Burgesses and the students have worked with Ms. Braxton to come up with some grade level incentives they would like to implement to help with behaviors in the fourth grade.

Students in Ms. Braxton's class collected canned goods and school supplies to send to a school in Texas affected by/Hurricane Harvey in October of 2017. They did research and found an elementary school to send supplies to and we mailed the items off in November 2017. I also contacted the Food Bank and they picked up the canned goods.
I have not followed up with the schools but I will make a conscious effort to email/ call the schools to ensure they received the items. I also have to contact the NNPS Mailroom and speak to the supervisor about the packages that were mailed off.

The students researched the negative effect of plastic on the oceans. They studied the ocean's ecosystem and will be collecting plastic to help keep it out of landfills and waterways. They they stuffed plastic bottles "EcoBricks" to reuse the plastic in a usable way.

We are still teaching the students how to create the scarves. We miscalculated the amount of time it would take the students how to learn to crochet. Unfortunately the students were not able to pick up the skill in order to master it enough to create scarves. We may try this club again next year and take less students so we can have more one on one practice time to actually teach the students how to crochet.
