Instructions for Completing the Standards Alignment Documentation for Social Studies Instructional Materials
To ensure instructional materials meet the academic expectations outlined in the Hawaiʻi Core Standards for Social Studies, all publishers must complete the Standards Alignment Documentation as part of the submission process. This tool is designed to demonstrate clear, evidence-based alignment between your materials and the required content standards. A separate documentation form should be provided for each unique comprehensive instructional program under this submission. Outlined below is the organization and instructions for completing the document.

Organization
Each tab is organized by individual grade (K-8) or grade band (9-12) standards. Included are the standards and standard codes for each grade or grade band, sample content/concepts, and course (if applicable). Space is provided for indicating evidence of alignment and location of alignment to each of the standards. Note: If you cannot view the rows for each standard, zoom out the view of each tab to at least 70% for easier navigation.

















Instructions
Use the following steps to complete the Standards Alignment Documentation:

1. Review the grade or grade band standards applicable for your materials.
2. For each applicable tab, input the Product Description information for your materials.
3. For each applicable standard, input Evidence of Alignment and Location of Alignment (e.g., PDF Page 16, Unit 1 Lesson 13) in the appropriate columns. It is recommended that the evidence of alignment be about a paragraph in length. Leave any cells blank or write "Not applicable" for standards that are not represented in your materials.
4. Delete any grade or grade band tabs that are not applicable for your submission. For example, if you are submitting materials for grades K-5 only, please delete the grades 6-12 tabs in the form. Do not delete any standards within the tabs if not applicable to the submission.
