Welcome to the South Carolina Approved Tiered Certification List

This spreadsheet contains the certifications approved by the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee (EOC) for use in South Carolina's Career Readiness Indicator on School Report Cards.

Certifications are organized by Career Cluster to help educators, counselors, and administrators identify certifications that align with a student's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program of study. A separate Universal Certifications tab contains certifications that may be applied across multiple career programs. The Career Cluster tabs are arranged alphabetically and are color coded by their Cluster Grouping.

How to Use This List

1. Identify the student's career program and career cluster.

2. Select the corresponding Career Cluster tab to view approved certifications aligned to that cluster.

3. Review the Universal Certifications tab for certifications that may apply across all career clusters.

4. Verify the certification tier and alignment before advising students on certifications.

Tiered Certification Framework

For students who entered 9th grade during the 2024-25 school year (9GR25) or later, program completers must earn a minimum of 3 certification points to be considered Career Ready. Students may meet the requirement by:

- Earning one Tier 3 certification aligned to their career program or cluster.

- Earning two Tier 2 certifications aligned to their career program or cluster.

- Earning one Tier 1 certification and one Tier 2 certification aligned to their career program or cluster.

- Earning one Universal certification and one Tier 2 certification aligned to their career program or cluster.

Note: Students cannot combine multiple Tier 1 certifications or multiple Universal certifications to satisfy the 3-point requirement.

Legacy Career Readiness Certifications

The Currently CR Approved column applies only to students under South Carolina's previous Career Readiness certification system.

· A certification marked "Yes" in this column is approved to satisfy the Career Readiness Indicator for Program completer students who entered 9th grade during the 2023-24 school year (9GR24) or earlier. (e.g. 63 OSHA 10)

· These legacy students only need to earn one certification marked "Yes" in the Currently CR Approved column to meet the certification requirement for Career Readiness.

Students who entered 9th grade during the 2024-25 school year or later are evaluated under the Tiered Certification Framework and should follow the 3-point requirements described above.
