Get $50 for your old, working refrigerator or freezer, through Appalachian Power’s Appliance Recycling program. Replacing that old refrigerator or freezer can also save you up to $150 through reduced energy use. Your old refrigerator or freezer will be picked up and sent to a facility where 95 percent of the material is recycled and hazardous waste is disposed of in an environmentally safe manner.

Residential Appalachian Power customers in Virginia can now have a Home Performance Assessment and receive a personalized report showing the projected energy and potential cost savings that would result from the implementation of options identified during the assessment. The Home Performance Assessment provides you with an on-site assessment of your energy use, a report with cost-effective options and recommendations to reduce your energy use, financial incentives that cover approved measures, and connections to qualified contractors who can perform energy efficiency upgrades. In addition, the contractor will install several simple, low-cost energy saving measures to help you save energy.

NNEC has a qualified HVAC technician from Utility Partners of America (UPA) install load management switches on members’ central A/C units. During the load control period, the A/C compressor will generally operate 50% to 60% of the time it normally runs. Participation is voluntary and free, and you will receive a one-time $25 credit on your electric bill after the switch has been installed for an entire cooling season.

NNEC will install load management switches on members’ water heaters, which automatically switches them off during peak periods in order to reduce wholesale power costs. Members participating in the load management program receive FREE maintenance on the electrical components of your water heater as long as the switch is connected.

By signing up for NNEC’s WiFi Thermostat program, you will receive a free Lux/Geo WI-FI Thermostat that will increase your home’s temperature by 4 degrees during peak demand times. The smart thermostat will put your home in energy saving mode when no one is there, reducing costs on your next energy bill. Residential members with multiple air-conditioners are eligible for multiple free thermostats.

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative Smart Response AC Switch ProgramRappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC)
Join Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s Smart Response AC Switch program and you will receive a one-time credit of $25 on your REC electric bill! The $25 credit is provided upon active participation in the program through the end of the cooling season in which you enrolled. In addition, participants will receive a $6 credit on their electric bill each month from June through September, as long they are members in the program.

Home$ave rebate is available to all Danville Utilities residential electric customers. Danville Utilities customers must purchase and install qualified energy efficient products, including: ENERGY STAR refrigerators, ENERGY STAR clothes washers, ENERGY STAR room air conditioner, ENERGY STAR windows, high-efficiency central air conditioners, high efficiency air-source heat pumps, HVAC system tune-ups, high-efficiency electric water heaters, electric heat pump water heaters and attic, wall, floor and crawlspace insulation.
