Public or Private, or do you care? Religious-affiliation? Technical, 2-year, 4-year? Note: Public colleges are partially funded by government funds and private colleges are not directly publicly funded

College Location: Geography & Weather
Where do you want to live? Stay in WA or leave? Do you want to be able to drive home from college or take a flight? Are there specific states or regions you do (or do not) want to go to school in? Is there any weather or geography you prefer or want to avoid? Example: Are you ready for sub-zero temperatures of the Midwest, or the intense heat of the southwest?

College Size
What size is comfortable for you? Do you care how many students are enrolled at the school? How large do you want the undergraduate class to be? How far do you want to travel to get to/from classes? What average class size are you comfortable with (Largest/ Smallest)?
Xsmall = <3000; Small = 3000 -> 9000; Medium = 9000 -> 15,000; Large = 15000+

Type of College City
What do you want the city you live in to be like? Do you have a preference between Urban, Suburban or Rural?
Urban = City
Suburban = Small city/large town or residential area near city
Rural = Near farms or wilderness and a small town

Prestige/Selectivity
Do you care about your chosen school's name recognition or ranking? Does the brand name or prestige of your college affect how you feel about going there? Selectivity is measured by the % of students who get accepted based on admission requirements. What is your target selectivity % you desire? (e.g. I don't want to go somewhere that accepts everyone). Be honest with yourself!

Cost of Attendance (COA)/Affordability
How important is price? Is cost of attendance a factor that you need to consider when picking a college? If yes, what is affordable for you? What is an agreeable cost of attendance (or range)? Have a conversation with your parents if you haven't already, this is important! Don't fall in love with a college you can't afford.

SAT/ACT Requirements
Do you care if the school is test required, test-optional or test blind?

Major/Program of Study
Does the college have the program/major you want? Are you flexible on major or will you choose not to go to a college if it doesn't have a specific major?

Undecided -friendly school
Do you care if the school wants you to declare a major as an incoming freshman? Do you want the option to explore classes for a few years before declaring a major?

Living Arrangements
Do you care if you live on campus or off campus? Are you OK if your college requires freshmen and/or sophomores to live on campus? Do you care if you attend a "commuter school" where a lot of students don't live on campus or nearby? Is there anything you ABSOLUTELY must have where you live (e.g. Private bathroom, bike storage,etc.)?

Campus Life/Extracurricular Activities
Are there sports, programs, clubs, activities, honors programs, sororities/fraternities that simply must be offered at your college? If so, what? Do you have any diversity/student preferences (e.g. male to female ratio, type of people you're at school with)?
