This show was RIFE with people photographing work instead of buying it, even stuff like my two-dollar table doodles. Also a huge creepshot problem. My work ended up all over twitter and instagram with no credit and I didn't even make back table costs.

A-kon has always been a good show for me, so the drastic drop this year was an unpleasant surprise. I blame it entirely on the fact that FanExpo Dallas was the same weekend. Some attendees did hit up both cons, but the buying interest seemed way, way down. I have a lot of repeat customers and commissioners at this show though, and even with the drop, it's still a worthwhile show for me, so I suppose I'll continue to go back if I can.

First con other than AWA where i've had a drop in sales. 15% drop from last year which i heard was attributed to Fan Expo Dallas being the same weekend.

Unfortunate as I love the artist alley staff here, great organization and very sweet folks who really care about us. I'm okay with the drop, but i'm scared it'll drop more because it looks like Fan Expo is trying to do the same thing next year as some stupid con drama bullshit.

Had hoped to do better because this is nearly double attendance from the cons I usually attend. However, the weather was awful and it was also the same weekend as a major comic con in town. Still made my usual amount, but it seemed like people were not purchasing prints. All my small items sold well. The majority of my sales were cash, whereas I usually have about 1/3-1/2 sales on card at other shows. I guess no one wanted to spend big.

Friday started off very slow for me, but I still made a decent amount by the end of the day. Did not have high expectations but Saturday sped up and was quite busy all throughout the day. The AA did not seem that crowded compared to the dealers, and attendees seemed to be looking for things that were perhaps more unique?

Staff was very nice and accommodating!

Mixture of both anime and Comic convention. whole even being ran by an extremely small group of people. The leader of it all does not have paypal and made you meet him in person to pay in cash for a table spot and sold tables to others even though he had set dates with other artists to meet up for the payment. half an hour till opening to the public and they changed the entire set up, causing artists to be unprepared in the beginning hour. 10x10 exhibitor spaces were not given as promised and the artists who did pay for 10x10 did not receive a partial refund even though they were stuck in a 6x6 space.

attendees were either 5-13 years old, or 30-50 years old. barley any age groups in between.

Really messy con that didn't show a lot of consistency. The staff was mostly rude and very unhelpful with the AA head being the worst offender. None of the staff knew which line went where and consistently confused vendors with regular attendees forcing some people to have to wait in longer lines or start the process of picking up their badge all over again. Fellow artists were awesome and it was a great con to meet people and trade merchandise, but other than that, not good for your sanity. On the plus side, the food was delicious (the fries for 5$ that you could get from the convention hall's snackbar) and had good portions. Overall though, I would 100% avoid this con and any con headed by this AA head simply because of her bad attitude.

A small convention mostly geared towards those interested in anime, manga, and Japanese culture. It is good for a first time artist alley experience as the event is not too big, lengthy, or overwhelming but there is less reception for original art and craft if you are not well know.

Overall, we enjoyed Animazement 2016. The price of the table was reasonable. But perhaps on the more expensive side for a convention of its size.

The Bad:
-Getting my things in and out of the Alley were difficult. The convention center's elevator system was slow, and unorganized. A more accessible loading dock would've been nice.
-Our booth was right next to where they were holding the auctions and classes. The microphone for the classes was set at a reasonable volume. But during the auctions it was difficult to hear customers.

The Good:
-Check in was simple and fairly quick early on Thursday.
-The artists nearby were amazing! We made tons of friends.
-Sales went well. Customers were generally engaging.

Weird in that it was definitely worth it for me (being almost local), but felt a bit slow throughout, kinda more slow than attendance would seem to warrant? We theorised that placement in the alley may have been partially to blame since tables nearer the art show seemed to have significantly more traffic.

My comics and some cute originals did surprisingly well, though; my partner's fanart prints got a lot of attention and were talked about but very few actually purchased. Prints did kinda poorly overall.

Saturday was really weird sales wise, as I did a bit worse on Sat than I had done on Friday, even with plenty of people in the Artist alley. But it was still a good con overall.

The application format is changing for 2017; from this years lottery to a jurried style, so we'll see how well that turns out.

Also, there was a bit of over saturation of print artists this year, and not many craft/plushie sellers in the AA. Attendies said they would have liked to see less prints and more other things next year.

Amazing show with amazing staff. Great organization, though there were minor hiccups on the way everything was fixed very fast and communication between staff and artists were great. Attendees had high buying interest and were all very nice. Loved where the convention was located as well, very close to food and other services.

Expenses for the show were quite high, but balances out with profit made here. :)

This is the go-to con I try and make it to every year, due to location, the size, layout and great attendees and fellow artists. The pre-con communication and organization however, has deteriorated greatly over the years as the convention and alley has grown in size from when it was able to be managed by one person. They have yet to upgrade the management to match their growth, leading to long waits between communication (in many cases, months), last minute updates and information shares, and terse email responses from the person running it. AT con however, it is so easy and simple to check in both with the con and then in the alley, and the staff is great. The layout allows for wide walkways to travel, and the open room ensures that you'll get traffic no matter where you're placed. We sell mostly prints, and sales were a bit more than last year, but overall still a strong profit.

This show remains one of our favorites, as it was our first ever convention selling. We have gained many insights from attending this show several times over and enjoy it both from a selling standpoint as well as an attendee one. The layout is great and there is often a variety of artists, despite the fact that this show is primarily FCFS. I do not like the fact that it is a FCFS show given that it sells out very quickly and the form often crashes, leading to people not getting in even if they were the first to fill out the form. Given the large number of interested artists, I believe they should switch to a lottery or a larger juried section. Also, I would absolutely LOVE it if they started including badges with the table because $160 seems reasonable until you see that you have to spend an additional $120 on badges for two people. And then the prices increased for 2017, as well, and still no badges are included.

A fantastic show, run by a caring and experienced staff with the artists' needs in mind. It will be interesting to see how they adapt moving forward, as it seems clear that table demand has gotten out of control (the 2017 rolling application was crashed by, according to the official fb page, 600 submissions in the first minute). Expanding the number of tables seems unlikely and perhaps not even desirable, since they are contracted to their venue until 2025 and have taken measures to contain attendance. This is by far my favorite con, both in terms of $ and pleasure.

- I love vending here because it's local and we generally do pretty well considering it's original art
- People seem to be more willing to spend--thinking possibly due to location? It's in the Prudential in Boston, which is a kinda of an upscale area. Lots of colleges nearby too
- Sign up process is *abysmal*. First come first served (fcfs) at an undisclosed time on a Saturday afternoon. It sells out within two minutes, if the website doesn't crash first. Wait times have been from minutes to over an hour in the past. It's not fair to many people who have to work, who don't have a good internet connection, or have a life and can't wait around all day. "Fcfs at an undisclosed time" is not a good way to handle registration when you have hundreds--maybe even a thousand?--people trying to sign up. It's a cluster eff. With this kind of interest, lottery would be fairer overall.

This was a highly disorganized convention being run by people who don't know what they're doing. They recently moved to a bigger location without realizing that the amount of attendees was too low to do so. Had an awful time dealing with them before and during the convention. Talked to other dealers and artist and everyone felt the same or had similar awful experiences trying to communicate with the convention staff.

Anime Central is one of the biggest anime cons in the US so you'll get lots and lots of foot traffic stopping by your table. I didn't really feel like there was any down time because people were always walking through the AA and stopping by the table. There's a pretty good mix of younger and older crowds so people are interested in buying things at higher price points. Surprisingly, I sold quite a few "big ticket" items ($40+) probably because there were more adults with disposable income. Staff was pretty hands off but they had someone stop by each table every day of con to ask how things were going and if we needed anything, which was nice.

ACen is overall a very good convention. Great AA staff, layout is always nice and hours are decent. The difficulty is the sheer amount of other artists and vendors you have to compete with for buyer's attention. Also, the high food costs of the convention area food drain a potential buyer's pocket pretty quick! Always a great time though :)

This show was weird. Sales were great for me, but only because I was in the front of the hall next to the front door. Poor ventilation made the room stuffy and hot, two people had to be taken to the hospital for heat stroke. there was a bug infestation, the aa/table top room flooded on day 4, most lines were abhorrent, con did not provide proper shade outside for lines, staff were bitter and needlessly rude or clueless about the con, despite the big to do about background checks it looks like it didn't actually do anything since there were a few exhibitors upstairs who are known to be dangerous which leads me to believe that the bg check was nothing more than a cash grab.

I had a lot of fun with friends and attendees. I hit my profit goal, but damn with everything this year, plus the shit they're talking about doing next year (5 days??? seriously???) I'm hesitant to even come back.

The jury failed to catch artists who sold traced or stolen artwork. Two rows of tables in the back were unfilled. People set up camp there and went behind artist alley spaces. The quality of artwork was lower this year. The staff were greatly understaffed. Registration line took 1+ hour(s) to service 5 people at the special registration line. Three entrances were used and traffic flowed all over the place.

My sales were the best I've ever had. I personally didn't have problems with pillars in the front of my table. But many artists had issues. On the first day an event staff interrupted a large sale and forced my customer to leave but the con actually came up to my table to follow up with me and fixed the problem. I think AX needs lots of fixing for it to be a good con for non locals to sell at.

They moved the AA into a parking garage with no AC for half the days. People passed out. No one wanted to buy anything because it was too hot in there. 500+ tables is WAY too many for an artist alley. You have to have the most up to date fan art and serious skill or else you will suffer at this event. Won't be coming back.

Hands down the worst/most complicated registration process we have ever encountered. They ask for more info more often than any other con I have ever attended (for example: needing hard copies of our temporary sales tax registration at registration and then spot checking throughout the con - why bother with either? I'm the one who's going to be in trouble if I'm not properly sorted)

Still...our returns were good and we'll do the show again. But not looking forward to dealing with the organization again.

Anime Expo's pretty competitive with the high number of artists, so Day 1 is gonna be a slow one as attendees figure out where they want to spend their money as well as what the average prices for things are (for example, one of my tablemates was selling 1.5" charms for $10. On the first day, customers scoffed at the price, but by day 3, they seemed to realize that most high quality charms sell for that price and began buying). Buttons seem to sell best at this convention!

Where do I begin? AA conditions were deplorable; barely noticeable AC, so the temperature and humidity in the room were terrible, enough that people were getting sick on the first day. It took until Day 3 to make the alley even remotely hospitable. Unacceptable.

Anime Expo is "the biggest" but I've had signifigantly higher sales at other, smaller shows. It's still a great show for networking and the food in SoCal can't be beat!
