Annual event that partners with Baylor's Campus Kitchen and the Heart of Texas Urban Gardening Coalition to host a day of service. Service activities may include helping people in the community register to vote, conducting charity walks, checking on people in isolation, caring for the environment through planting seeds, and fighting hunger through donating items

Twice a year this program "steps out" into the Waco community to serve in hands on experiences. These two events are university wide and have a vareity of actitivities. Other activities that the comittee has available include; Smithsonian volunteer, bookshare volunteer, LibraVox volunteer, proofreading, donation drive for Shepherd's Heart Food Pantry, Charity Miles activities, Freerice, making masks for donation, and adopting a nursing home

Open to all first year students and the event is held each fall. Students assemble lunches for local homeless shelters, decorate pots and labels for local outdoor classrooms, and collect donations and load totes for the G.W. Carver Disaster Relief

Baylor assists this organization that provides threapeutic mental health programs. Students help with activities for children ages 8 weeks to 5 years old by hanging out in a gym with lots of toys and sports equipment.

Students help set up tables and equipment behind the scenes for Talitha Koum which also providies programming and support for families. Setting up includes getting tables ready for dinner, and setting out "pick-a-gift" items before 6 pm

BMSA offers workshops, lectures, and service opportunities for baylor students to grow as empathetic professional. Through these various events, BMSA strives to allow members to grow as prehealth individuals and fully immerse themselves within the baylor and waco community.

MSO stands for the Medical Service Organization and our name is a perfect description of our mission. As seen in our name, our mission is twofold: we desire to support student’s pre-health goals and to engage the Waco community through service initiatives. MSO is unique in the Baylor pre-health community because of its strong emphasis on serving the community and inspiring pre-health students to develop a passion for service that will carry into their future professional careers. We offer weekly service opportunities at over 20 sites in the Waco, Texas community, clinical volunteering at the local Family Health Center Clinics, service engagement at Baylor Scott & White Hospital, and an opportunity to obtain first aid and CPR training and use that training to provide care at high-intensity events with our first aid service team.

At Caritas Food Pantry (there are other sites but I’m only familiar with the pantry), you can either pack shopping carts for clients or load their cars with a grocery cart’s worth of food. It can be physically demanding but it is so rewarding to serve members of the community who are struggling to put food on the table.

The need for more physicians of color to serve in underrepresented communities has become more apparent as health disparities have increased between ethnic groups. Recent studies indicate that physicians of color are more likely to serve in communities with these disparities. With the Pipeline Program, Baylor MAPS mentors local middle schoolers in the Waco area weekly, aiding students in learning more about their interests in science and the healthcare field!
