Here at the Secretariat, we have taken some time off to rest, reflect and enjoy the briefest of Montréal summers. This has been a hectic year for us with 4 international meetings around a wide variety of topics touching design from many facets. This is a mix of the long-form think pieces and books as welll as articles, videos and other ressources that have our thinking. We hope you enjoy the deep dive as much as us!

Bauhaus is considered the birthplace of Modernism and has become a byword for sleek, functional design. Founded in Weimar in 1919, the Bauhaus school moved to Dessau in 1925 and then to Berlin, where it was forced to shut in 1933 after Hitler seized power. Most of its artists, architects and visionaries emigrated, fanning out and spreading the Bauhaus doctrine around the world.
