FYI on FEMA funds and GoFundMe (GFM): FEMA does not scan or look at GFM, but be honest you have one if submitting for a FEMA grant. All funds received by FEMA are subject to possible audit because they are govt funded dollars. If a GFM for the same expense appears during an audit, the recipient may be required to pay back the FEMA money if the total amount received from both the GFM and FEMA is above the allotted excess amount. There is an allowable excess, and it is rare that anyone has ever had to pay any money back. It is recommended to label all GFMs something vague (needs to get back on feet) or state on the FEMA app that there have been unexpected associated costs.
