Most new comers'd prefer to use React to Blaze, and while surely Meteor is heavily pushing for React's adoption a sizable portion of the community is still running their projects with Blaze.

Good question. I heard of it when it was prior to v1 and have followed it's development since. When the right project came around the corner I took the chance.

Missing marketing. New people don't see Meteor at all. Experienced people think it's outdated / deprecated. They don't see the link of the team behind Apollo and Meteor being the same.
There is no up to date blogs or similar out there and recent conferences on Meteor have had not much public exposure.

No preference. It should be up to the maintainers. I only care that the money gets to them (so stuff like OpenCollective might not be entirely motivating for devs).
MaybeMaybe
Lack of (or narrow) full-stack development experience. Not understanding the difference between real-time and reactive. Not understanding what pub/sub is best for. Assuming that one should use the same DB for everything (e.g. nothing stops one from keeping Mongo for user data and other metadata only, and use specialised DBs for other work, like columnar stores, relational, etc). Meteor should come with a label: warning, easy to start with and use, but if you are careless, like anything, it's going to bite you in the back. Maybe the whole "easy and developer friendly" should be dropped, and instead advertise it as "sophisticated and full-featured", and a handful of examples of big applications built with it, like Qualia, instead of miriad website-like apps. And yes, it's best to tell people that if they don't need to build a web app, they should not use Meteor.

I think the primary conception is that all the development energy has moved on to other platforms. It's partly true, but it's also a self-stoking cycle. I think the community would be in much better shape if there weren't monthly 'state of meteor' threads on the forum.

Few that I've heard back:
- Meteor is dead.
- It is outdated.
- what meteor?
- but we use react.

Most people don't know what meteor is!! Meteor could use some branding.

World need to know that there is a community or people who are still using and developing the Meteor.
I don't own this but I could help with maintenance.

Not up-to-date, no momentum... I really think the removal of a "free" hosting like it once was, eg. "myexample.meteor.com" really broke a lot of the docs, showcases and pulled the rug under a lot of positive demo-ability.

The MDG isn't really putting enough resources in shaping the community and the communication I feel.

There need to be some more "thought leaders" that carry the flag / torch and break into new frontiers and show what is possible and how to be creative with meteor.

Meteor from the outside maybe looks like "just another framework" while honestly it's the best thing since the command line and it should be marketed thusly. Its core principles are still sound and it should be sold on its merits.

Meteor forever! :)
Meteor Docs / Guide, GitHub, Written articles (Medium, Blogs), Forums, Stackoverflow (Stackexchange sites), Mostly I google what's up and read from there. Unfortunately I don't like the forum layout, I'd prefer if it'd start from https://forums.meteor.com/categories like an old-school forum so that I can see all topics... but maybe that's just me. The default seems cluttered and unfocused to me. I'm not a community guy yet I'm afraid.
