This template has been created to help you create deployment sheets for the Wildlife Insights platform. Note that this template is simplified (some columns have been removed to simplify data entry) and may be subject to change as Wildlife Insights makes further updates. Also note that this template and intructions were made for Windows; there may be differences when using a Mac.MeatRoad dirtVandalismCanopyVaries

1. After preparing your data for upload onto Wildlife Insights, enter details into the template sheet "WI_deployment_template". In this template, some fields may be restricted (e.g. will only allow selection from a drop down list, only allow dates or numbers etc.). Before entering any data, hover your mouse over the column header for further details on what to enter in the fields below. For an example deployment sheet see "WI_deployment_example".Water source

2. If you need to add additional rows in the template sheet, click the left button on your mouse while hovering over a row number within the table (e.g. row 30) to select a row, and then click with your right mouse button and select "insert" to add a row. To add many rows quickly, after selecting a row, you can also press Ctrl + repeatatively. Culvert
12
3. Once you have filled in the template, make sure that you delete any extra, unused rows. To do this, select an extra row (following the intructions in 2.) and click the right mouse button and select "delete" to delete a row. To delete multiple rows at a time, after selecting a row, you can keep your finger on the left mouse button and drag it up or down to select the rows.Burrow

4. After you have completed all the above steps and finalised your template, you need to save your completed template (WI_deployment_template sheet only) as a ".csv" file. This simplifies your deployment sheet and is the format required by Wildlife Insights. First, make sure that you have saved your completed template as an .xlxs file (click file, save a copy, make sure ".xlxs" is selected). This will allow you to come back to your original file whenever you want. This is a very important, as saving your template as a .csv will remove all but your selected data sheets and will simplify everything (and so can result in data loss). Once you do this, follow the same instructions to save a copy as a ".csv" file. Make sure that when you save as a .csv, you are on the WI_deployment_template page, as saving as a .csv will only save the page you are currently on while saving. Nest site

5. Without opening your saved .csv file (sometimes opening a .csv can change the formatting), log onto Wildlife Insights, navigate to the "Details" page on your project, scroll down to "Deployments", select "New deployment" and "Bulk upload deployments". Attach the .csv, click upload and select your .csv file. This should automatically fill in deployment, location and camera details for your project. Note that if something hasn't been entered correctly Wildlife Insights might tell you that your upload has been unsuccessful. Go to your .xlxs file and check that you have entered details correctly e.g. check if you have duplicate deployment IDs, or blank fields where you shouldn't have etc. Once you have made corrections, start from step 4. above.Carcass
